First-year Beedie schedule advice — PHIL 105 and workload

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming first-year Beedie student planning my Fall schedule.

PHIL 105 seems to fit my schedule really well, and it helps me keep my timetable balanced. The only thing I’m unsure about is that the professor listed, Kino Zhao, seems to have some negative reviews on Rate My Professor.

For anyone who has taken PHIL 105 with Kino Zhao, how was the course actually? Was it manageable for a first-year student, and were the lectures, grading, and assignments fair?

I’d also appreciate any feedback on my overall timetable. I’m thinking of taking 4 courses, but I’m not sure if that would be a manageable workload for a first-year student, especially in Beedie.

I’m not trying to judge only based on reviews, but I just want to get a better idea before choosing it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Tips for a incoming first year?

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming first-year SFU Beedie student starting this fall. I’ll be studying at the Burnaby campus, and I wanted to ask current students or recent graduates for any advice before I begin. What are some things you wish you knew during your first year?

I’m also interested in SFU soccer and just participating in soccer in general. Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
