Countries Beaches Tier list
These are countries that I have been to recently and spent a good amount of time on the beaches.
S Tier: Incredible. Maldives. I have never been anywhere where I have gotten that dessert island feels like in the middle of the ocean on a tropical island surrounded by ocean like I did in the Maldives. The beaches were stunning. The water quality was like nowhere else I have seen. Crystal clear, warm water. Absolutely perfect water. Perfectly soft sand. Not overcrowded, not over touristic. Loads of tropical fish in the waters.
A Tier: Amazing. Australia and Thailand. Australia really has so many stunning beaches that are incredible. So many great beaches without anyone on too. I almost put Australia in S Tier too. Thailand really has some stunning beaches with fantastic water quality, soft sand and warm waters. Some of them are wayy over touristic though and have been ruined, but I think the ones that are still great are still really great.
B Tier: Very good beaches. UK, US, Portugal, Spain and Cuba all have really nice beaches, but just aren't quite as nice as Thailand or Australia IMO. Still very good, but just that bit lower. I think the UK is very underrated for beaches and has some really stunning beaches. People are unaware that UK beaches often rank highly on the world's best beaches lists. Beaches like Bamburgh beach, durdle door, kynance cove and Rhossilli bay are all stunning. The US obviously has many great beaches too, many in California. Again, Portugal and Spain with many great spots. Cuba a stunning beach in Varadero.
C Tier: Just ok/good. I have only been to the riviera maya in Mexico (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum). Nice beaches but not amazing. Quite over touristic in some areas and they have a big seaweed problem at times of the year. Vietnam some nice beaches but nothing special. Cambodia I would have rated a lot higher 10 years ago but unfortunately on Koh Rong Samloem they have completely ruined the stunning beach there that I fell in love with 10 years ago. They have completely dug up the beach and are building a big resort there, it's completely ruined. Still some nice beaches but they are ruining them. Malaysia have some very nice beaches on Langkawi but unfortunately, they are being overtaken by resorts restricting beach access. On Tioman island the beaches were just ok.
D Tier: Bad. The Bahamas beaches were just bad IMO. They weren't that clean and were not that pretty. Sri Lanka was way overrated too IMO. The beaches were nothing special and I found the water quality to be poor, I got sick after going into the sea. The only quite nice beach was in the south but was very overcrowded with tourists.
F Tier: Awful. Indonesia really had the very worst beaches I have ever seen in my life. It was just the amount of trash everywhere on those beaches and in the water that made enjoying them completely impossible. We were actually really shocked when we went to Bali because we had heard great things but the beaches were so awful and full of trash. We also went to Lombok and Gili T. On Lombok it was the same as Bali, loads of trash everywhere on the beaches. Gili T was a bit better but was also full of trash. We didn't spend more than 5 minutes on a beach in Bali or Lombok, they were too dirty and depressing.
So what do you guys think? What are your country beach tier lists?
