This comment on my wild silk post completely touched my heart. This is why I love this community.

I recently shared my journey of hand-cleaning wild Calotropis silk from the mountains of Yemen, and among all the amazing support, this beautiful soul shared their childhood story.

Reading it brought back so many memories of my own. When I was a 6 or 7-year-old kid back home, we used to see these silk fibers floating in the air. It brought us so much pure joy. We would run around, chasing them until we could catch them in our small hands. I honestly don’t know what goes through a child's mind when they see something like that, but even now at my age, whenever I look at this silk, I am instantly taken back to those days. It brings me a deep sense of happiness and optimism, even during my hardest times. The world truly felt like a safe, beautiful place back then.

Knowing that my long hours of manual labor brought some healing and validation to someone's inner child—while connecting so deeply with my own—means more to me than anything.

I just wanted to share this to say thank you to everyone here for making this space so incredibly special. You all inspire me to keep going!

Finally processed a micro-batch of wild Calotropis (Milkweed) Silk. The luster is absolutely unreal hand-foraged and cleaned in Yemen.

After spending weeks in the mountains of Yemen, I finally managed to hand-process this tiny micro-batch of wild Calotropis silk.

Most commercial milkweed fibers I’ve seen are clumped and full of seed residue, so I challenged myself to see how clean I could get them by hand. It’s incredibly airy, light, and the silver sheen is unlike anything I’ve worked with before.

Sharing this here because I know you guys appreciate the effort that goes into rare fibers. Any advice on the best way to blend this with wool? I’m still experimenting with the best ratios.
