Swing Lessons

It’s official— I’m busting through my comfort zone and will start attending swing dance lessons next Monday evening in Aurora. I signed up for 4 classes and I will hopefully have a good idea by the end whether I can learn it. I believe this studio teaches Lindy Hop, which I’m told is a fun social dance.

My only dancing experience is in square dancing, which I learned a little over a year ago. I’m hoping that that experience will help me get through these lessons unscathed.

Dancing Anxieties

I’m 70m and my gf is 69f. She has been dancing for over 40 years in different styles, square dancing, two step, round, line and swing dancing. I never been able to dance and she made it a requirement to learn square dancing if I was going to date her. This isn’t about my struggles learning, though I had many. She’s accompanying me to west coast swing lessons in August.

My issue is that she has pure joy when dancing with experienced men and merely satisfied dancing with me. I don’t know how long I can watch her, since at my age I’ll never have enough experience to compete with that joy. It’s painful to know I’m never going to be enough and I feel like giving it all up.
