Heading into the 2026-2027 season, who do you believe are the top 3 most important players next season?
I think I can do this thread since all of our “best” players have already been signed (with perhaps one exception)…so, what does everyone think?

Just a question because this has been on my mind since yesterday. This thread could be deleted later.
However, there has been massive speculation before yesterday that Karvinen was going to retire. Clearly, that did not come to fruition. Instead, she is moving to Montreal. As one of last season’s draftee, we held the rights to her, but they released her. This made me think, is Thompson close to a decision? Could it be possible that they released Karvinen so they can make room for an expected Thompson decision and that perhaps she is leaning towards continuing?
I could be off or completely crazy or both? But, it’s just something that I thought about.
I know a lot of people are mourning some of their team losses, especially New York, Seattle and Toronto were especially hit hard. We are complaining (rightly) how stacked some of these expansion teams are. However, last year …we were saying the same thing and that didn’t come to fruition. So, realistically…how well do you think these expansion teams will actually do? Do you expect them to come in the bottom 4 or not?
Exactly what it says. Does anyone believe they will all make the final roster?
I think we did pretty well. We come out of the expansion probably the least damaged…
This is just a thought. Even if it hasn’t happened yet. There are some people that believes Campbell will either be taken or traded during draft. If that is the case, what should we do with our backup goalie situation???…Draft or free agency or international free agency options…I have no idea if any goalies are available in agency. There seems to be a shortage of goalies despite the “world class” draft…
Now that we know that Gardiner and Daniel received a FPO and didn’t sign. Who do we protect now? And does that change your thinking?
We lost 0 people in Phase 2 … now we have an endless amount of choices, but we get three more protections now…who are you picking?
The US has everything down there and we only have hockey here. So, it is disappointing that the league went this direction. Having said that, growth is good and they probably didn’t have much of a chance since the other Canadian candidates just weren’t feasible. This probably wasn’t their first option. Maybe it was poor planning, maybe it wasn’t. I’m not angry at the cities that got teams, but I am a little sad still. I will keep on supporting my team though.
The expansion teams have been decided, right??? Or am I wrong???
The expansion process has been released. This sounds like it could be devastating to the existing teams, but may not be because they may be encouraged to build outside the league. Having said that, we need to strategic and who we prioritize in the first phase and the third phase. Who would you prioritize in the first phase and would you prioritize the third phase?
Based on the Hockey News, it seems like this year’s expansion might not be like last year and they are moving away from the tradition expansion and more with a player choice model. People are already speculating that it means that the new expansion teams may get their first choice of free agents (inside and outside the league). How badly would this hurt us? Or do you believe that the majority of the players in the team want to stay? Again, players do not have to accept whatever is offered to them.
I know everyone is worried about expansion, but people need to calm down for a bit because we don’t even know how they are doing expansion this year…the first thing that jumps at me is it is not going to be the same numbers as last year because it cannot be … the numbers do not add up … second, there are certainly going to be more protections…third, the league does not want to undo and undermine last year’s expansion, it would totally defeat the purpose of last years expansion…
Now, whether the new teams are going to ask to build from the league or build mostly from the outside is still up in the air, but…until we know more, let’s not stop spiralling…
One thing is for sure, they are NOT taking the exact same expansion process with the exact same numbers and applying it to this year…it’s not going to happen….
