MA dissertation structure/contents

Hello, I am in the final too weeks on my master's dissertation. I'm currently redrafting and editing chapters, with the introduction and conclusion left to write. Feeling the pressure.

Yesterday I started doing some lower maintenance tasks and put the front matter and contents page together. I am doing a participatory study and have 6 themes with subthemes.

Please I have suggestions on how to laye this out in the contents? I would prefer not to list all if the subthemes with numbers, it looks long but I can't find any direct guidance on this from my uni. I think they are OK with what you decide. What's the standard format? Can I leave these out of the contents and have them as light headings in the main body? Or should I include them without numbers in the contents?

Something like this:

  1. Findings and discussion

4.1 Theme

Subtheme

Subtheme

Subtheme

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

TLR and time allowance

Hi All, I've been reading posts on TLRs and time allowance. I've been offered a new Deputy HoD role at a good school and would like to accept. I've emailed asking about the allocated time for the responsibility - TLR 2b - and how this would be structured in the timetable. I've received a vague email from HR saying that follow the appropriate guidelines and that I can discuss with the person in charge of timetabling after accepting the post. As I understand it, there are is no set rule for TLRs and time allowance. I guess my question is, do teachers usually clarify this prior to accepting a role?

Time off for wedding

Hello, I've been offered a new job at a lovely comp. I am quite relieved as my current school have messed me around. The new school have agreed I can stay fulfil my current contract (term's notice) and start with them in January. I also told them I have another interview on Monday, so they have given me until then to let them know. But this interview has now moved to Tuesday.

Also, my best friend is getting married in April 2028 in Australia. The wedding is term time but I'll be involved in the wedding party. Would this be a good time to ask any new school if they would allow me to have time off, I could take the days off unpaid or offer to work in lieu? Or is it better to start in the post, and once established and more familiar, ask for the time off? Advice really welcome, I appreciate it might feel a bit awkward asking even before starting the job, but I know in others industries this is just the norm.

What should I do?

Hi all, please could I have some advice. I work part time for an independent school and was told by my HoD (repeatedly) that I'd be able to move to full time next year, which was my preference. Before Easter I was told to this was not going happen and SLT had not been informed of my desire to increase days. The school contract requires one full terms notice but since I didn't have a job lined up (there was almost no jobs advertised) then I chose to wait everything out. I have now been invited for two interviews, both full time and promotions for the positions I'd like, easy commute, good school, good money etc. However both advertised for a September start, and my HT has said I'll need to let them know I cannot start until January. I had thought maybe they would let me go... Union Rep says I could try to negotiate but advises against taking clause in contract which would mean no Summer pay, as I'd get a poor reference. I would really like some advice. Also, should I let both interview schools know I can't start until January before the interview? In the application I put 'Discussion with the Headteacher', however they have now indicated that they won't release me (this is by email, rather than conversation in person). I have not had any offers yet either, so wonder if that would make things more concrete.
