I’m lost in life and career — Should I pursue UI/UX without a degree in 2026?
Hey guys, I really need some honest advice about my career and life.
I feel like my life is going downhill, and honestly, I have no idea what I should do next.
Right now, I don’t have a stable source of income. I do Zepto deliveries whenever I can to make some money. One of my friends is also trying to get me a customer support job that would pay around ₹20,000 per month. I’m considering taking it because I need some financial stability.
I’ve made quite a few mistakes in the past, and because of those mistakes, my education wasn’t completed properly. I regret some of my decisions, but I also know that constantly thinking about the past isn’t going to fix anything. I want to focus on what I can do from this point forward.
I’ve always been interested in designing. I have a decent amount of knowledge about graphic design, and I’ve taught myself how to create posters, edit videos, and work with different design tools. Most of this has been done on my phone because I currently don’t have a laptop or proper equipment.
I’m interested in learning UI/UX design and potentially making it my career. I feel like it could suit me because I genuinely enjoy designing and learning creative things.
But I’m extremely confused and honestly scared of wasting more time.
Is UI/UX still a good career to pursue in 2026? Is it realistic for someone without a completed degree to get into the industry through self-learning and a strong portfolio?
Should I take the ₹20k customer support job for financial stability and learn UI/UX alongside it? Or should I take the risk and focus completely on design?
I’m not looking for fake motivation. I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people already working in UI/UX or the design industry.
Please tell me what you would do if you were in my situation.
