Electrical Gremlins and Mysterious Coolant Leak? - 02 Intrigue
Hi friends,
First time poster here, happy to report my first car is an Olds! Specifically, the 02 Intrigue with the 3.5 LX5 Shortstar.
Love the car, a dream to drive, paid just under 2000 for it with 129000 KM on the odo.
I've noticed a couple problems that seem to plague older W-Body cars, first, the driver's side window refuses to operate, other windows work fine. After a jumpstart went wrong (reversed polarity, my friend was absolutely out of it while putting the cables on, thankfully didn't start it with the polarity reversed.) The window magically worked again... For two whole days... The window motor seemed to work perfectly fine after the jumpstart.
Second, I've noticed a coolant smell, not from the exhaust, but the tires and under the hood... Trying to diagnose this, I'm assuming there's a very small hairline crack somewhere? From what I've read, the coolant surge tank is pressurized and the older plastic can develop hairline cracks... But unsure.
Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated, I love this ride so far!! The previous owner took great care, kept on top of maintenance, and I'd love to continue that.
Thanks!!
