my LOVE for doraemon(I would you read this)
Growing up, Doraemon meant more to me than anything else in the world. I loved Nobita, and I felt a connection to Doraemon that’s hard to put into words. genuinely one of the best things that happened in my life. I always wished I could be in Nobita’s place so I could have Doraemon with me too. But I never wanted to choose between them or break their bond. I wanted to be with both Nobita and Doraemon.
Until 8th standard, I watched a lot of Doraemon movies, and their adventures and friendship touched my heart deeply. Movies like Arabian Nights(fav), The Three Swordsmen(fav), Gadget Museum, Steel Troops, Nobita’s Dinosaur, Adventure to the South Seas, and Kingdom of Clouds still hold a special place in my heart.
After 9th standard, I had to go to a hostel, and from then on I stopped watching Doraemon. Recently though, I’ve been watching some episodes as shorts, and it gets to me every time because I know how much I loved this show. I even looked into how and why Doraemon was created in the first place and who created and so on about doraemon. If I’d put that same energy into my studies, maybe I’d have become a scientist. (Just kidding.)
But thinking about how much I loved Doraemon, and about how the story ends with Doraemon and Nobita having to separate once Doraemon completes his mission, it makes me cry. Their bond, their memories, the moments they shared, are priceless. I used to think no one in the world could love Doraemon as much as I did. It makes me sad thinking about Nobita’s future without Doraemon, and how he must have felt.
I also watched an episode where Suneo, Gian, and Dekisugi throw Nobita a bachelor party before his wedding, and they reminisce about the memories they had growing up. I don’t know exactly how they felt, but those memories feel like my memories, their childhood feels like my childhood. Near the end, Nobita leaves the party early to go meet Shizuka, and Suneo tells Gian that they’re all stepping into a new chapter of their lives. He starts crying, and that made me cry too. They were literally moving from boys to men.
Doraemon will always live in my heart. I’ve never met anyone who loves it as much as I do, or who really understands the feeling behind that love. I think only people who’ve felt this kind of bond with something can truly get it.
I’m almost 23 now. Whenever I try to express this to someone, they treat it like I’m just a kid who loves cartoons. I feel like they are not mature enough to understand this love or feelings. But I believe the memories and love I built around Doraemon as a child are precious, and it has nothing to do with whether it was “just a cartoon.” It was the bond I formed with something and for me, that something is Doraemon. Thanks for reading this post. Its just that i came across this reddit channel and felt maybe you guys can understand how i feel so i posted it. Thanks for your time. Atleast i am satisfied that you guys took time and read this. I truly appreciate the people who understood what i am talking about.
