Tips for dealing with bruises in uncomfortable places

I ended up landing on a league mates skate last night, we were doing drills and when they were meant to go past me they ended up pulling me down and I landed on their skate.

I have a bruise on my leg which looks nasty (it's already quite dark) but doesn't hurt and one on my bum which does hurt when I move from standing to sitting - sitting is ok as I can just tilt my desk chair back to change how I sit.

Any tips for how to deal with bruises like this, is arnica a sensible idea of do I just need to try to rest and let it just heal?

I think if the bruise wasn't where I sit then it would not be an issue at all.

Small hands

I have quite small hands and I find that kettlebells (well the ones at the gym I go to that are a good weight) have quite big handles and they can be hard to carry. It's not the weight but my hand size compared to the handles.

I have previously done hand strength tests and I have good hand strength but I have been finding carrying the kettlebells hard on my hands.

Any tips? Should I look for gloves which increase grip or something?

I normally do farmers carrys and kettlebell round the worlds.

I started going to the gym about 4 months ago to supplement playing roller derby. Until recently I was just going once a week to the gym, I have roller derby practice twice a week.

Because I was going once a week to the gym I was doing all the exercises each time, I'm now looking at going 2-3 times a week to the gym should I be changing it to having each visit in the week having a different focus?

I am normally doing 20-30 mins on the bike and the treadmill (fast walking pace), an inclined leg press, barbell hip thrusts. I also normally do machine rows and machine tricep presses - depends on the branch I go to, lat pull downs, chest press and pec fly - I do if I'm at the gym which doesn't have the machine row and machine tricep press. I have also added kettlebell farmers carrys, kettlebell russian twists and kettlebell round and rounds. I sometimes do the leg extension and leg curl machines if I have to wait for one of the others.

Should I be splitting the exercises up now I am going more often? Or can I keep on doing all exercises each time?

I am mainly trying to get stronger and more solid for roller derby as well as getting fitter.
