Worked hard for 20 yrs - missing it
Retired for a three years now and been having some nostalgic memories from my early years. I did 17.5 yrs AD before palace chasing into an ANG unit for my final 2.75 yrs. I think my two ANG ribbons might be messed up; they just appeared in vMPF when I printed my records for the last time before turning in my CAC.
I had a good run and I think I made a good impact on a lot of people in my circle (I hope). I was never seriously in the running for SMSgt, despite having a couple cracks at it before I left AD. Timing seems to be everything and I wasn’t in the right place at the right time with the right command to get a strat.
I had zero faith in the MPF team at the guard base. When I got to the nitty gritty parts of finance outprocessing, they struggled for a day or two before they just gave up and sent me TDY to Wright Patt to finish up. I went back to the guard base just long enough to final out, and that was that.
I did all my deployments on AD. Anyways, I just thought I’d share. Work hard if you’re still out there fighting the good fight and don’t take your time for granted. Take care of your people.🍻
