Heavy Duty Fruity - Calypso Review

Heavy Duty Fruity - Calypso Review

Intro - 9/10 - Oddly unique. Bud tender showed it to me without me asking saying to ignore the profile and just look at the buds. It doesn't look like the average Calypso. Reminds me of an indica truffle strain with a little more of a sativa kick than most. Although I'd still classify this as an indica dominant hybrid. Flavor is more of the "real" floral aroma'd fruit salad blend like flavor rather than fake candy flavor. It's not overly filled with sulphuric compounds, the stuff that gives the gas and skunk smells.

This looks remind me of an indica truffle strain. It has a very dark purple green mixed with white, some orange hairs and other colors are exposed when you break open the bud. This is the type of strain that's usually indica leaning where the leaves, buds and trichomes all just look mish mashed together from the outside. It is not appealing to look at unless you know what you're looking at.

The taste is like a floral fruit salad. Like if someone had lavender garnishing a fruit salad. The taste is more of real fruit than candy fruit.

It hits very smooth. The taste isn't gonna smack you in the face, but it's solid and it's there.

The effects hit pretty quick for the type of strain. It has a slightly heavy head feel, and relaxes your mind and body. But it keeps a little spark in the mind and doesn't overly weigh down the body. Very nice relaxing strain that could be used for multiple things including relaxed creativity, going to sleep, or helping you stay awake on couch if you want to.

Not an active strain in any way, the sativa component is in the mind. Overall solid pain killing effects all around including body and head.

Effects kind of remind of Swampwater Fume from GHP, but a little better id say.

Solid 9/10... but it's not a completely "knock" your socks off 9/10. It's a solid go to frequently in late afternoon/evening type 9/10.

Light body tingle and some numbing acting for pain killing. Head feels similar. Mind feels passively active.

The rest of the Calypso branded strains (not counting premium brands) I got with this that I didn't like or thought was underwhelming:

Citrus Squirt
Sour Gobberz (heard this was better, bad batch I assume)
Biscotti Sherb

Crosses and possibly the is that started here and that you don't see elsewhere. Not just a renamed strain either.

Great Strains with Early Undesirable Effects

There's a lot of strains now that are very good that I've had undesirable effects early before my body adjusts.

Doja Peach Tree is the latest example. Gave me a headache day 1, and then that same effect day 2 is a heavy head feel that feels good rather than a headache.

Maybe I need to stop taking so many hits so fast and let a couple hits settle in on a new strain first.

Is this basically I'm using too much too fast and then the creeping effects come in and sometimes it's too much?

Peach Tree - Doja - Review

UPDATE NEXT DAY - It seems the headache was a little shock to my system the first time I had it. My body adjusted and I'm feeling it right today. I was about right, a wonkier more potent version of FRX's Walkabout. Definitely sativa leaning. It does still have a that heavy physical head/shoulder feel (probably what actually gave me the headache). Wonky, somewhat creative zombie strain. A little jittery if you're sitting still just like Walkabout.

It gives me a headache, and I'll properly adjust with mixing it with something else. For everyone else other than the people that share my issue with these kind of strains - 9-9.5/10.

That ratio of myrcene/limonene/caryo, without much of a counteracting terpene like humulene, pinene or ocimene, or a cannabinoid like thcv or cbc. It unfortunately becomes a headache for me.

It's a strain that makes you want to think and not think at the same time. That somehow gives me a headache. For most others though, it means wonky fun and somewhat old school feel.

It's a zombie strain. It makes you want to get up and walk, but not run. Yet you're kind of stoned and stupid too. A good comparison is that it's like a much wonkier and potent version of Walkabout.

Kills pain in body but makes it feel lighter. No tingly body feel. The head and down to shoulders feel a little heavier but then it feels lighter underneath shoulders.

It doesn't look like your run of the mill Calyspo grow. Smells the part for a peach strain. And tastes it too. The cure seems better than Calypso branded stuff too.

If you have any ideas what I can sprinkle a little in with it to counteract the headache for me, or have any idea why a strain like this could cause me a headache, I'm all ears. I love every part of this other than the headache. And don't tell me Tylenol. If I have to take Tylenol to enjoy a strain, I just won't use it.

Test Me.... Total Terps and THC% for Flower Is Meaningless Garbage

Give me a handful of your favorite strains and I'll find you some lower thc and/or lower total terp flower you'll love and I'll explain to you why.

Best Other Cannabinoid Choices

What's the best product you've had for alternative cannabinoids... CBD, CBC, CBG, THCV, CBN, any others if it's out there. I personally am interested in people's opinions of the best CBC and THCV or any other of its out there. But let's start a discussion for any for who likes them.

Higher Total Terp % = Better is Total Hogwash... Mostly

Higher total terp % meaning flower is better is as much hogwash as higher thc being better than lower thc. I've had some amazing potent flower that lasted a long time to that have sun 1.5% total terps. Eliminating a certain terpene can open up just as many different and sometimes unique effects as overloading a terpene.

Three catches...

  1. There does seem to be a minimum of around 1.25%.

  2. Just like ideal thc levels, it's strain dependent, Do Si Do is almost always around 1.5% total terps. But if Giraffe Pussy comes in at 1.5%... buyer beware.

  3. Probably the most important as to why this myth came to be. The good lower terp flower doesn't age as well. So I do recommend checking the package date and passing if it's a lower terp flower. Where say Giraffe Pussy will still carry its punch 8-9 months later.

Purple Thai from 9 months ago... does this strain get better with age???

It's old, fluffy, has very little visual appeal at this point so I'm not even putting a picture. It's super high myrcene (about 1%) and only has a total tarpon 1.76%.

I love it. Fuzzy but lighter feel in the body/legs. Fuzzy head feel with a nice happy yet relaxed mind.

Reminds me if I mixed GLeafs Chem Pie back in the day with Insas Grape Gasoline.

It's Prime Purple Thai #25

Orange Cream - Ozone

I usually can't stand the grower. But this one just works. Nice uplifting energizing feel in the head, with some creamy body feel to go with it. Probably one of the only good strains that comes from this grower. I didn't get pictures when I had it. Someone could grow it better for sure, more like the strain than grower.

Favorite All Time Flower Strain In PA's System... Can Be Old or Current

For me, and this one may even be one of the best I've ever had anywhere. Was a very very early Maitri days when a strain called Lemon Lime Candy was around. If you look it up someone has the profile of it and it's so unique I don't remember any other profile like it. It was an indica with about equal terpinolene and myrcene around 0.9% each. Then had limonene and caryo lingering around half of that each, and a bunch of other terps with numbers above 0.1%. Cured perfectly, smelled wonderful. Felt like it's the only breeders cut I've ever had in my life.

Also... what happened to high terpinolene indicas. Banana Kush form FRX is meh. I remember Strane's White Mac and Dragonfly back in the day too and they were both nice high terpinolene indicas.

Gleaf Nectar From 2020, Does Anyone Remember

Does anyone remember the lower thc concentrated, like between 50-70% thc that gleam out out in 2020 called nectar or live nectar.

Until Blockberry X Triangle Kush from SF, those were my favorite concentrates in PA.

This high thc only bullshit we have in this state has ruined both better low thc flower genetics and lower thc concentrates.

Sativa Concentrates Suck In PA

Most sativa concentrates suck in PA because they're all practically all the same.

Why?

Because they have way too much thc in it. In sativas, the super high the essentially counteracts a bunch of what could make those strains shine in a concentrate. My second concentrate m, a sativa, I ever had in PA was something in 2020 from g leaf that was labeled in the high 50's in thc (they called it nectar).

Indicas become very terp dependent at higher levels and can still have unique expressions.

Old School Lineage

If a grower truly got good cuts of old school lineage and knew how to grow and cure it.

Would we as whole,

  1. Love it and gladly pay the extra price it would cost.
  2. Bitch about the price and lack of bag appeal and then we'd never even see a second batch.

Sadly, it's probably #2, or else someone would have done it by now.

Keep in mind, it would have terrible visuals compared to modern exotics, more old school smells than cake, cookies and grapes. And for some strains, probably a little harsher on the throat.

For people 35 and older... they know exactly what I'm talking about. If you're under 35, don't even respond unless you know what I'm talking about.

Paradise Pine - Strane Stash - Who Grows It?

Strane Stash yellow bags are both in house grows from Holistic and white labeled flower. FRX is a common one that sends them stuff for it. But I can't seem to figure out who grows it.
