Angélique Kidjo has made history as the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ⭐
The five-time Grammy Award winner was joined at the ceremony by Benin-born actor Djimon Hounsou and Nigerian musician Adekunle Gold, alongside her friends and family.
For more than four decades, the Beninese music icon has taken African sounds to global audiences, blending influences from her native Benin with funk, jazz and pop.
What’s your favourite Angélique Kidjo song?
The first artist to set the precedent was none other than Bahati who went from mtoto wa mama to mjukuu wa Diana 🤣
The most notorious case has definitely been Guardian Angel whose guados have been guarded by someone whose children are older than the singer himself
Not forgetting Pastor pius muiru who married someone who was ten times his senior
Swali ni does the industry ya injili iko na shida ya wa mama?
The long-awaited album by Nipsey is finally here, having been released a day to his birthday it stands out for a couple of things.
First of all the album will be the last body to be released as his brother, blacc sam, said that it was Nipsey's last project that he ever recorded .
Prolific is a collab album featuring Bino Rideaux, who makes the album have a smooth vibe , which is reminiscent of his past collaborations like Hussle and Motivate
It was scheduled 📅 to come out after Victory Lap, which was the only album he released while being alive.
This means that PROFILIC is us listening to New Nipsey Hussle music, and thus, this 15-track album means a lot to his fans.
My favourite song on the album is Miami Off The Plane which to me is the standout single as its a dancehall song which shows that Nipsey was headed to work on more dancehall projects as in 2016 till 2020 the rap world was shifting to the carribean sounds
My other favourites are Bacc of the Bach, All Summer 🙌🏻, I Just Wanna Know , Just Like Me 💯 since the album is new I know some songs will eventually get more replays but as for now those are the joints im on
How are you feeling the album, though 🤔
There was a time when Kenyan Gospel was more mainstream than secular music . Yes, you heard me. Right ✅️ Gospel had Megastars, while secular music had superstars.
There was a time when Daddy Owen with his Kapungala style was more popular than JuaKali with Genge Wave 🌊🌊
There was a time when Groove Awards carried much weight than the Chaguo La Teeniz awards.
But at one time during the 2010s, the Kenyan Gospel industry became oversaturated, especially with Nigerian influences that the secular industry started taking over.
This meant that gospel artists were getting fewer gigs, less publicity, and less everything in general, and so in 2017, Willy Paul became the first Gospel artist to do a secular song dubbed. I Do featuring Alaine .
I Do became such a popular song that it remains one of Kenyas' most watched songs on YouTube. And his Arch Rival Bahati was watching 👀 .
So in 2020, Bahati became the second Gospel act to transition to Secular with the hit Wanani that, for the first time, featured gengetone artists , as we speak Wanani is Bahati's most watched song .
Fast forward to the mid-2020s' another Gospel artist by the name of Masterpiece Ke has joined the list going from High Bila Ndom to song such as Jug on Jug, Guza Mbwa 😂 among others .
But the biggest question this Sunday ni who among them do you think Hataona mbinguni ?
