Looking for advice on moving forward. Getting a ba gig. Volunteering.

I'm looking for advice. I'm at crossroads of sorts. I was at my peak during COVID and it all went downhill after that. I lived in Ottawa back then with the family. I worked at Bell and the CRA before that. They were both 6 month contracts. I didn't want anything to do with the vaccine, so it made any future roles more difficult to find.

At the time, I wouldn't look for new roles just anywhere. I targeted IT. It became too difficult to find work without vacc. Time went on, and the gap in the resume formed.

I picked up writing as a hobby around that time which helped with the constant rejections. I had been on government assistance for a while, but that ended when I started working labor jobs. Most of my jobs have been just that—physically intensive work that I'm not cut out for.

It's gotten to the point where I'm just better off volunteering to regrow my skillset.

Ms 365 with the tools I used at Bell don't seem to be enough.

My present thoughts on volunteering to get me out of this mess would be to actively look for people in hiring positions, elaborating on what I can offer, and schedule a meet.

What are the most likely ways to get out of this mess that don't involve a 30k program? Are there other steps I can be taking to improve my chances? Asking on LinkedIn? Asking recruiters? Physically going to companies and asking in person?
