Offline Support Kits - A New Support System For Mercs 1

Check out a short demonstration here!

What are Offline Support Kits?

Offline Support Kits are the other factions answers to the Mafia's Merchant of Menace. Faction relations will be much more volatile and harder to juggle in JE3.
Word travels quickly in North Korea. Doing contracts for a faction will certainly end up pissing off their competition, and they'll only get more and more bitter as the war progresses. Because of this, I thought it'd be necessary to provide an alternative "offline" support system not relying on the Russian Mafia.

Here's how OSK's work:

- One support kit per chapter for every faction, including 4 vehicles and one miscellaneous item (supply drops or artillery barrages)

- Kits will spawn outside faction HQ's on the start of a mission, and will be orderable at the start of missions

- Kits spawn as crates that include 5 new support items that you can equip to a grenade slot.

Mafia Shop Pros:

- Cheap and affordable

- Full inventory accessible at any time in free roam (up to what you've unlocked)

- Airstrikes available at any time

- Larger selection

- Civilian, NK and Russian Vehicles and drops

Mafia Shop Cons:

- No squads

- Middle - low grade equipment

- Limited helicopter selection (Only cargo copters, no attack helos or littlebirds)

- Susceptible to jammers

- Can't order helicopters during ace contracts

Offline Support Kit Pros:

- Higher quality vehicles and supply drops

- Full squads come with most vehicles

- Quick access from grenade slot

- Includes attack helos and littlebirds

- Jammer-proof

- Helicopters orderable in ace contracts (though these maps will be packed with AA to balance this out.)

Offline Support Kit Cons:

- More expensive

- Airstrikes not included except for artillery strikes (you'll have to rely on mission specific strikes)

- Limited to faction-specific equipment

- Uses up a grenade slot (you only have two, choose wisely)

PoD+ Progress - July '26

Here's a sneak peak of what the Juche Edition 3 team has been up to for the past month.

I'm currently finalizing the planning phases of a completely new support system that the non-mafia factions will offer the player, meant to effectively be a competitor to the merchant of menace. It'll take full advantage of all of the new npc's and vehicles added by the mod, and should help push the limits of the game even further than previously thought.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the model and texture contributions of Akoul and Maj. Smuggler. These guys are super talented at what they do, and it's so exciting to see the PoD+ project have a passionate team behind it.

THE RED GUARD: Another New Sub-Faction for Mercs 1

"GENERAL SONG OFFERS A NEW CAR, TO ANY CIVILIAN WHO KILLS A RUSSIAN INTRUDER!!!"
~ Pyongyang Propaganda Loudspeaker

Armed civilian militias weren't really touched on in PoD, until now.

Juche Edition 3 will add the Red Guard, an armed and relatively incognito civilian faction based off of the real life militia of the same name. They'll be an expansion to the North Korea faction.

Mostly operating secretly inside non-NK controlled territory, they drive around in those criminally under-utilized civilian SUV's. Other civilians will be using them too, so until closer inspection they're relatively unrecognizable. You'll only know it's them when they try and run you down or jump out to start shooting at you.

They'll also be getting into shootouts with other factions, (mostly the Russian Mafia) usually trying to use guerilla tactics to take them by surprise.

PROKAT: A New Sub-Faction For Mercs 1!

Coming soon with the release of Juche Edition 3.0:

In Juche Edition, every faction will be getting a much-needed upgrade and expansion to their personnel and arsenals.

PROKAT PMC is a Russian mercenary group operating in tandem with the Russian Mafia. They'll act as the faction's more militaristic and disciplined wing, sporting a tank, a gunship, a jammer, and a patrol vehicle. All content is completely new, and nothing is replaced.

This basically just came out of my desire to give the mafia a tank lol. I feel as though this is a pretty good lore reason to do so.

Prokat (Russian for literally "rental" or "for hire") was the name the devs wanted before they settled on ExOps. It felt appropriate to resurrect it from the dead for the mod.

Click this to check out my original post.

- Fixed shadows and shiny surfaces not appearing on some vehicles (prototype lada, mafia littlebird, mafia mi17, chinese mrls truck, cheat zamora)

- Restored and fixed aspects of the old m4 texture, which is also shared with a few mounted guns. Upgraded from 64x64 -> 128x128.

- Recreated the AN demo helmet in 128x128, which was 64x64.

- Recreated the prototype lada texture in 256x256 rather than 128x128.

- Completely remade the odf's for the chinese and nk MRLS trucks, which hopefully should fix a rare crash near dandong and ichon.

- Fixed Peng's freaky white eyes on the xbox version.

To see a full and concise feature list, click here!

A few months ago I decided to totally remake my project Playground of Destruction+ from the ground up, using the impressive knowledge and capabilities the community has been able to acquire recently.

Purist Edition is a new sub-mod for PoD+ that seeks to introduce tons of cut content restorations, enhancements, fixes, and bonus features to craft the most whole and complete version of vanilla Mercenaries.
Currently includes over 12 restored vehicles, 8 restored weapons, 7 restored npc's, 8 bonus features and 13 touch-ups and fixes for oversights.

PE 1.0 is the most feature intensive and polished Mercenaries mod to date.

PE 1.0 is currently a menace.pro discord exclusive, try it here!

The mod page on GameBanana will be uploaded once the project rounds out to a more complete state.

But what about Juche Edition? Don't worry, that's getting a massive overhaul too. It'll mark the second half of PoD+'s release schedule.

Going forward, PoD+ will be comprised of two versions you can choose from. Purist Edition, and Juche Edition. Purist Edition will stay as close to vanilla as possible while restoring content, fixing oversights, and adding content that won't interfere with vanilla gameplay. Juche Edition will go much, much farther.
