Exploring Cyber security as a hobby and career option (Systems programming)?

Title. Ive been studying systems programming (csapp, ostep, database fundamentals) for a few weeks now and thought id like to explore cyber security since it ties closely to what im learning (heard it on reddit).

What type of different topics are there in cyber security and what books or resources can I study to explore them? Also are certifications necessary in this field as someone who cant afford one?

Is it bad to be a generalist?

Title. I enjoy a bit of everything from programming, math, electronics to mechanics. Is it bad to be adequately skilled in all of them? is it necessary to have a specialization in one of them?

Title. For reference im an EE student (sophomore) and whenever i try to focus on something for a bit longer my interest shifts to something else. The list has become too big to manage:

Embedded systems

Analog electronics

Systems Programming

DSP, ML

Mechanical design (recent)

Ive realized that generalists dont have much demand in the industry but i cant manage my interests. Can my ADHD actually be useful?

Title. The course was taught terribly at my uni and i cant connect to the subject at all. But id still appreciate some basic knowledge of it to apply in systems. Looking for resource suggestions!
