i'm a 22 y/o female and am looking into a 1-2 week ski trip to japan this january or february. i'm an advanced skier but have only ever skied the u.s. east coast. i'm really big on backcountry but understand that that's probably not the best idea alone in a new country, so just looking to ski some challenging/fun/interesting terrain.

i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a resort or area that has good skiing, some possibility of a social scene, and (importantly) affordable accommodation and pricing. confused about whether hostels are common, but i'm willing to sacrifice quite a bit of comfort and convenience to save money. i'd likely fly into tokyo btw.
