Just feeling out there from more experienced players which kit I should get. I just sold my previous Alesis Surge kit and I’m looking to replace/upgrade now that I have a little more money than that initial purchase. A local store has the TD316 for about $1650 USD or I can get a TD516 for about $3700 USD online.

I am an intermediate level drummer in a local band, so it would be primarily for gigging. Considerations for good playability, quality sounds, and ease of transport would all be helpful. An extra $2k isn’t a deal breaker, but I would certainly be much more upset if something were to get damaged through gear hauling with that price tag.

So what would y’all recommend?
