Worth buying an electric upright?

I'm thinking of getting an electric upright bass and I'm just wondering if it's worth it as a practice tool? If I play in jazz clubs they will have their own and I'll be getting some lessons on technique where I'll be using the teachers one.

The one I'm looking at is 600 quid.

I like the sound of it but I'm just worried that it won't be close enough to the actual thing. I don't mind it sounding a bit different (of course) but how do they feel. Whenever I see videos the people aren't plucking like a proper double bass so I'm worried it's just a funny bass guitar rather upright practice tool.

Should I just save for a plywood upright? Or are these generally worth it? Another factor is it will be very hard to get in and out of the apartment, but if it's very clearly the better choice then I'm willing to take the annoyance.

Thanks!

Does anyone have any recommendations on how much rice to achieve 4 to 6% alc?

And does anyone know how to prepare the rice to it can release its sugars? I've heard it's different but maybe I heard wrong

How does one find people to join a band?

I've been playing bass for a few years and started taking music theory lessons and it's taken my playing to the next level. I'm fairly competent and I'm looking to start getting gigs or join a band.

But I feel very disconnected from communities and really don't know how to approach it.

Any advice?

Looking to get more into musical communities here in Paris. I'm a bass player and I'm looking to join a band or start jamming casually with people. I'm pretty open to genre but I'm mainly interesting in soul funk and jazz au the moment, but I'm also a fan of rock and metal etc. Message me if you're interested or just want to go to a gig or something. Looking to see more live music too.
