Tax or financial

For moths I’ve been trying to leave tax. I got an offer that’s underwhelming with time off but is a wash comp wise. I’m debating if maybe I should just stay in tax and hate what I do forever (or try to like it) because my b4 job just has so many benefits thats hard to give up, or just keep apply to senior accountant roles (not tax) and hope for the best. Either that or take the underwhelming senior accountant non tax role.

Context- 3 years of tax and 1.5 of digital assurance. Currently tax senior.

What do you all think?

Will I get the bonus pad out?

If I put in my two weeks with my last day being the bonus pay out day, will I get my year end bonus (8/21)? It only said I needed to be employed on the date it was paid but I wasn’t sure if that same day also being my last day would be an issue.

Stay at big 4 or go to industry, 2.0

I sent this before but realized I was unclear about my reasoning.

I work in tax as a senior and I really dislike it. I want to be in regular accounting, but getting a job there has been difficult coming from tax.

I currently make $95k at big 4 plus $3k ish in bonus. 4.5 weeks PTO plus 2 weeks shutdown, 16 weeks parental leave. I got a $10k bonus when I started but I think if I quit it will get clawed back because I’ve been here less than two years.

I work remotely most of the time but it’s gonna be twice a week here shortly.

Pivot to this offer—I got an offer in industry as a senior accountant (not tax) making $92.5+10% annual bonus+4% 401k. 3 weeks PTO plus 1 week of vacation. Fully in person, 44 minutes from my house. No parental leave (will be relevant within the year).

I’m really tempted by it because it gets me out of big 4 plus gives me regular accounting experience, and that has been so hard for me to get (I’ve applied to like 30-50 places, none but this one gave me an offer).

What would you do if you were me and had my goals? I’m just so conflicted. Thanks.

Stay at big 4 or industry?

Senior in tax making $95k in MCOL. Got a job offer for senior accountant role with a medium size manufacturing company. It pays $90k but you get 15 PTO days and 7 paid holidays.

Am I crazy if I don’t take it because we get more PTO at big 4 (4.5 weeks plus two weeks for shutdown). Also new role is fully in person vs 1-2 days in a week in my situation. Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Edit: forgot to mention there is a 10% bonus if all metrics are met.

EY

Trying to leave EY. Been here less than 2 years but was given a signing bonus. Will I have to pay it back or do they sometimes just let you keep it? How do they decide if to ask for it back? The language of my employment offer made it sound like it’s up to their discretion.
