Recovery for surgery THR

I’m a product photographer and have been asked to do my dream shoot and be paid well for it. I’m having my THR next week and I want to know how long you think it will take for me to be able to do a shoot like this. I could have an assistant for moving around lights and heavy stuff but it will involve me moving products and my tripod so being on my feet a fair amount. After a bit of googling it says that I could easily get a dislocation if I do the shoot a month after surgery, but what are your experiences? I’m afraid I might have to cancel the shoot. For context I’m a 29F that’s done a lot of physio so hopefully recovery won’t be too bad but who knows!

Charge client for studio hire and Uber/travel?

Hi All,
I’m fairly new to working with clients as a freelancer -I’ve previously worked in-house or used my house as a studio space. For context I shoot product photography.

I’m thinking that I will add options of studios and prices to my quote, which I will then book for them. However, I live in south London and the cost for an Uber can be high (up to £50 each way) for me to get into central/east London where most of the clients and the studios are. I would need the taxi as my equipment is heavy (strobes plus camera and lenses).

Should an estimate of the Uber travel expense be added to the quote? Or should that be something that comes out of my pocket (as I don’t drive/have a car)?

Wondering what would be most professional option, I would love to have my own / a shared studio where I can also keep equipment but that’s too expensive while I’m starting out.

Thanks!

29 Female - THR Posterior - Having doubts

Hi all would be great to have some advice - I was born with serve hip dysplasia for both hips but my left one has always been worse. I was told from a young age that I would eventually need a hip replacement probably in my early twenties.
I started getting very bad hip pain about 2 years ago (I always had problems when going on long walks-but nothing like this), it got especially bad at winter time last year-I was afraid to walk more than 10 mins, had to cancel jobs that required me being on my feet too long and was really afraid to lift anything slightly heavy in case I’d be in lots of pain afterwards, I had steroid injections but they wouldn’t last/help for very long. So I was put on the waitlist for a hip replacement.

About 3 months ago my hip surgery consultation date arrived, but I had recently been to a physio (which for some reason was never recommended by the NHS before), and the physio mentioned that the exercises could significantly help. The doctor could see that I was unsure of what to do so he delayed the surgery for 3 months to see how much it could improve.

I am now two weeks away from my new date for consultation meeting and could have the surgery date very shortly after if I confirm. I keep going from wanting the surgery to being afraid that I’m in not enough pain- it comes in waves and I do feel that the physio has helped a lot(however it’s hot weather at the moment and that can help). It would be nice to start a new chapter as I don’t know how much the physio can help prolong the surgery in the long term- my doctor also said that the hip replacement should last a lifetime, and that if it didn’t it would be possible to have a revision however it would be difficult as I won’t have much bone left.

My left leg is shorter than the right one and getting the implant would help even my legs out and improve posture which would be great. I feel totally overwhelmed at the moment at what I should do, if I don’t go for the surgery and if winter comes along and I’m in a lot of pain again I know I will be kicking myself. Equally, I know that recovery will be painful and I will be upset if there are any complications with a second revision (if I need one) and I could have lasted longer with the current hip.

Sorry for the long rant! So glad to have the Reddit community to speak to.😌
