Aerospace help
Hi everyone,
I’m starting Aerospace Engineering this fall and I’m currently choosing my first-semester classes. I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually taken these courses or know the profs well.
My situation is a bit specific, depending on how much I enjoy or not aerospace, I may eventually try to transfer into another major/program later on. Because of that, I need to maintain a very high GPA (ideally 4.2+), so I’m trying to build the smartest and most manageable first semester possible.
About me academically:
I’m a very hardworking student and I study a lot
I’m generally strong in math, especially calculus
I’m good at physics overall (better than math) but NOT electricity/electrical-related topics
I have absolutely no programming experience
So from these classes, which ones would you recommend taking together for:
- the fairest grading
-best chances at an A/A+
-manageable workload
-less dependence on group projects, for more grade control
-clearer/easier content for a first semester
Here are my options:
- AERO 201 – Intro to Flight & Aero Systems
- COEN 243 – Programming Methodology I
- ENGR 213 – Applied Ordinary Differential Equations
- ENGR 233 – Applied Advanced Calculus
- ENGR 242 – Statics
- ENGR 201 – Professional Practice & Responsibility
- COEN 212 – Digital Systems Design I
- COEN 231 – Introduction to Discrete Mathematics
- ENGR 202 – Sustainable Development & Environmental Stewardship
Also, RateMyProf reviews are super mixed for a lot of these courses/outdated, so I’d much rather hear personal experiences from students who actually took them.
I am open to hear literally any advice for surviving first semester engineering while keeping a very high GPA would help a lot. Thanks!!!
