What adaptation should I watch with my girlfriend?

I’m about to finish les mis, and it has been one of the most fun and encapsulating pieces of media i have ever had the opportunity to come across. I saw it in a bookstore two months ago and, not knowing what it was, checked out the back and immediately dropped what was on my summer reading list to take this novel on. immediately i was enamored with the flow and style of which hugo writes (the bishop section is still one of my favorite parts), and want more.

regardless, my girlfriend does not have the time nor patience for this novel, and i am not the type of person to push my interests on someone who could not gaf about a intricate layout of waterloo. But i think she would love this emotional epic and want to introduce it to her while also satiating my appetite for the story. I’ve generally heard that the miniseries from 2018 is pretty good, but does anyone have recommendations that they can extrapolate upon?

also if anyone has recommendations for similar french artists that focus on romanticism that would be lovely. I particularly like anything that has to do with social justice.
