Today I finally opened up the variator on my Django Euro 5 4T trying to figure out where Peugeot hid the factory speed restriction.

And honestly, it really doesn’t look like the classic spacer ring setup everyone talks about. I couldn’t find any mechanical restriction ring in the variator at all.

The more I look into it, the more it seems like the restriction is tied to the magnetic marks on the clutch bell and speed control through the ECU.

Also, it’s always satisfying to “break the system” a little. I managed to get to the variator without removing the body plastics at all, even though almost every YouTube teardown removes half the scooter first.

Yeah, the first time was awkward and frustrating in places. But I reassembled everything about twice as fast.

Right now I’m thinking about trying the method where two magnetic marks on the clutch bell are ground down as an experiment. But I’d rather not do that on the original part yet, so I’m looking for a spare clutch bell/cover for testing.

If anyone knows the part number or where to buy one, I’d really appreciate it.

How did you fall in love with two wheels badly enough to eventually end up here with a Peugeot?

Mine was, and still is, a Django. This photo is from the exact moment I first saw it in the shop.
It was:

1. Love at first sight.
2. It somehow combined everything I wanted in one scooter.
