Moving from an Excel-only workflow to a full Planning Engineer role—need advice/mentorship!
Hi everyone,I just landed a new job as a Planning Engineer, and I am looking for some guidance from the experienced planners in this community. At my current company, we manage all projects, tracking, and scheduling exclusively using Excel. Because of this, my hands-on knowledge of Primavera P6 is currently limited to the basics.Since my new role will require a higher level of planning expertise, I want to bridge this gap as quickly as possible. I would love to connect with any planning engineers here who could offer some advice, resources, or general mentorship.Specifically, I would appreciate insight on:Core P6 functions to master before day one.Common pitfalls when transitioning from Excel to proper database scheduling.Recommended training resources (courses, YouTube channels, or blogs). If anyone is open to a quick chat or sharing their experience, please let me know. Thank you so much for your time!
