Mini Split Heat Pump Moldy AFTER 3 Deep Cleans

TLDR: Blower wheel on mini split still dirty/moldy after 3 deep cleans, one of which removed the blower wheel. Is this normal after a cleaning? Video attached. Heat pump detailed below. Will provide additional info if needed.

Hi Everyone,

Recently made the rookie mistake and turned our heat pump off while in auto cooling mode (this is out normal setting) without first running the fan only mode to dry it out. This lead to mold all over the blower reel and grate.

We had it deep cleaned professionally. After the tech left the blower wheel still looked dirty/moldy. They came back out and deep cleaned it again. The tech mentioned we should dry it out using high speed fan for 30min prior to shutting off. He said ideally run it 24/7 in MANUAL cooling mode (fan on the medium level).

Since then we have run it 24/7 and the blower wheel and grate got moldy again. This time they sent a senior Red Seal tech who removed the entire blower reel and deep cleaned it outside + the whole unit again. I asked if he thinks our air/environment could be an issue and he said no.

Senior tech advised - run 24/7 on the highest manual fan mode for cooling. If it’s loud/uncomfortable when you are in the room turn it down only while you are in there. He said to run it for 2 to 3 hours on Fan only mode if we are going to shut it off to dry it properly.

I inspected the blower wheel again and it’s better but still a lot of dirty/mold near the corners of each fin.
