Early game the ability to control distance makes up for the underwhelming damage.
Once it’s upgraded and your skill hits 50 though, that ability to control distance is combined with overwhelming damage..
All that skill also gives some crazy visceral damage too.

She couldn’t power up for her last phase. (No poison cloud)
Then just repeatedly tried in vain to summon her poison. I thought attacking would knock her out of it but nope she was entirely passive for the last phase, even when I was standing right in front of her.

You know you’re playing too much BB when your first thought is “boss arena”
To celebrate my 1000th hour in BB, I decided to do something I haven’t done for years.
Started a new character using only the cleaver and pistol for parries.
Kept it simple with no tools levelled only health, stamina, strength and skill using paper and pellets as much as possible.
Main game gems only
Few things I noticed were the cleaver ain’t flashy, but god it’s effective.
Parries are OP in ng.
Early ng is TOUGH. I died more in central yharnam than any other area.
Ng failures is far too easy.
Orphan is my GOAT
Maria needs more health.
Had a blast though and might just do it all again.

Most may disagree, but as a mid (at best) gamer, I really enjoy The One Reborn. He’s almost like a reprieve after a difficult area and 2 hectic boss fights.
Still gets me sometimes on late ng cycles tho.

Quick question, for a 99 arcane build with minimal strength to wield the HMS are 19% nourishing gems worth farming or am I better off sticking with cold damp abyssals?
I have 2 radials with +65 arcane scaling.
Cba farming the 21% so will probably stick with farming the child of antiquity.
