I admit - I DO curate my pens and try to match them with my knives (not all the time, but a good bit of the time) - but today, I accidentally/unintentionally matched my knife/pen carry with the shirt I was wearing... And thought I'd come out of hiatus to ask this fine group something.

Here's my question: do y'all curate your pens and knives or other EDC to match? Do you go above and beyond and also match with attire, or match to outing/event/workplace/etc.? Just curious!

The missing slot on my Galen Leather case, btw, is reserved for a special CM that I am totally stoked for... and if u/confoundedmachine sees this, shout out to the Bolt King 👑.

(I also realized the SOTC pic is from a couple of weeks or so ago prior to finalizing my mods to my Bugout build. Oh well.)

My carry today is the gorgeous Thunderstorm Mithril Campen with a Black Timascus Clip and then my Grail Bug - Benchmade GovX Exclusive Livewire Fat Carbon Bugout in Magnacut with my mods: Flytanium Copper Thumbstuds and Backspacer and a Lynch NW Dark Abyss V1 Modular Clip. Beautiful Swirly Sunday.

Took the GovX Exclusive Bug in Fat Carbon Livewire with Magnacut, added copper Flytanium thumbstuds and backspacer, and a Dark Abyss Lynch NW V1 Modular Clip... Took a sweet knife and made it the best but I've ever seen. Grail achieved.

I've stuck to a strict 10 pen rule, and well, with a CM soon on the way, and counting my Bonecrusher 7, it's time to narrow down, and here is a matching set that I'm wanting to sell as a bundle.

Needs to go, even though I hate to see them go. (But, sticking to my rule, and extra cash is nice, specially since my fourth little was born several days ago!).

What we got:

Karas Kustoms Render K in Blue Ti Cerakote (aluminum pen, that's the color) with a brass grip. Steel clip. Precise v5 refill so Pilot G2. Little to zero tip wiggle. Discontinued now. No chips or scratches. Very little patina on grip. Minimum use. (Retail $120, I bought for $80, normally found for $60/$80 when Karas did their blowout sale for discontinuing these)

Karas Kustoms Vertex in Blue Ti Cerakote with a brass grip. Converter that came with it is included. Fine Bock nib from Karas. Only inked once. Cleaned it out. A little patina on grip but nothing that won't clean off with a cleaning. No scratches or chips. (I paid $125 plus $35 for the grip - so $160 in it - minus $15 for aluminum grip not included that originally came with it = $145 for transparency purposes)

Had to jump on here and just share this curated goodness - mostly KK and mostly brass and blue, but proud of how it's all come together. Made a few changes in the midst of my hiatus. Still staying off, but active in the chats from time to time. Just wanted to share the fruit of my labors and also ask... Who else curates their collection to match?!? Any themes?!?

My wife and my kids out did themselves this year, surprising me with this beautiful clip right before our annual family vacation. It's thundering outside and the rain is slowly coming down on our little cabin, so thought I'd take this beautiful shot of my all-time favorite pen. u/devaspotato is such a talented machinist. This beast is a work of art all around and a testament to some incredible machining. Just wanted to give this shout-out and share a beautiful picture or two.

TLDR: A special Matte Grey Vertex with a hand faceted Brass Grip done by Gee

Well - since my farewell post several months ago, I've posted a couple of for sale post. One was to fund a guitar purchase (which happened, and I'm so pleased I did it) and the second this past week was to cover the repurchase of a pen I had sold and regretted (granted, I have a lot of those haha, don't we all?). This was one my dad got me for Christmas, and was my first machined fountain pen. Well, I had an opportunity to buy another through the Karas KVC - but this time, it would be a bit more special. The Liberty Squire was my first "machined pen" I got back in 2021 I think? My dad also got it for me - but, since I've grown in this hobby and understanding what I like and don't like, it just didn't get used ever. So - long story short, I wanted to repurchase this Matte Grey Vertex, and to pay homage to my first machined pen (and considering my dad got me both of these pens (and, when I got my first real machined pen, this was the year after the Squire, I got a Karas Bolt from my dad)). I say all of that because this pen is a special one. I wanted the brass grip faceted to set it apart from my other Vertexes and pens in my collection and be a little bit more special.

So here we are! NPsD (Vertex and Pocket Modal!) and the closing of my collection (again) for the foreseeable future. I had to post this one - couldn't help myself, because Gee did a fantastic job, and I'm quite proud of my Karas collection, and my pens in general. And well, this special pen just HAD to be shown off.

I'm still on the hiatus - but, just wanted to give a public service announcement - Karas is running a KVC (Karas Value Center) sale on YouTube right now with some awesome pens up for grabs. Gee does a great job with these and the Karas team just plans rocks. There are some great stuff on there right now that hasn't sold out, just wanted folks to know. I'm a huge Karas fan and think that for the price and quality they are super hard to beat. Here's my growing collection that shows just how elegant and awesome Karas pens can be. I have a matte gray vertex with a faceted grip on the way from this KVC (reason why I sold the Baronfig Liberty Squire this weekend) to match my Fluted Thunderhead Modal. Need to move this - my first machined pen, this thing is long sold out, it's in great condition, with some lines towards the tip as seen in picture and of course some patina, but considering this has been well used, it looks amazing, and will clean up great as well.
