Be honest: would this actually work at a crowded social?

Hey everyone 👋

I’d love to get some feedback from the community on a salsa partnerwork sequence my partner and I have been working on.

My question is: Do you feel this kind of partnerwork is still comfortable and realistic for social dancing, or does it cross more into performance/show territory?

We tried to keep the connection smooth and lead/follow focused rather than just stacking flashy patterns, but I’m curious how it feels from an outside perspective — especially from people who social dance regularly.

Here’s the clip: Instagram video

Would love honest opinions from both leads and follows 🙏

Hey everyone 👋

My partner and I recently danced salsa in a really nice rooftop bar, dressed up a bit more than usual (more “elegant night out” vibe than typical social wear).

It got us thinking — does the setting and outfit actually change how you dance or perceive the dance?

For me, it felt like:

I was more mindful of lines and posture

The dance felt a bit slower/more expressive

Even the connection felt slightly different just because of the environment

Curious how others feel about this:

Do you adjust your style depending on the venue or outfit?

Or do you keep your social dance completely the same everywhere?

Would love to hear different perspectives 🙏
