Anyone with hip impingement + small labral tear, did the cortisone injection take longer than 1 week to help?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

MRI showed: small subtle labral tear and cam-type hip impingement

Symptoms are mainly: front hip / groin pain, burning in hip flexor area, worse with sitting / closed hip positions, sometimes adductor pain too

I had a cortisone injection 1 week ago. The first 2 days after were awful, I could barely walk. It improved a bit after that, but I still haven’t felt a clear benefit yet.

I’m doing physio and trying to avoid aggravating positions, but the pain keeps coming back daily and feels pretty inconsistent.

Would love to know:

  • how long your injection took to work
  • whether you had the same burning / groin symptoms
  • whether physio was enough or if you needed surgery

Thanks!

Any good bike fitters in London with experience in hip injuries?

Looking for recommendations for a London-based bike fitter who understands hip/groin injuries. I have a small hip labral tear and am already doing physio, but want help reducing current pain triggers and getting back on the bike with a setup that prevents the hip from flaring again.

Ideally someone who can assess saddle position, reach, cleats, hip angle, and return-to-cycling guidance.

Thank you!!
