Unions, if you’re reading this please send the strike vote now!! I think people are pissed enough now that they’ll vote in favor of it. I don’t understand why we are waiting until the bill is complete. The longer we wait, the more this RTO is normalized. We need to make sure we’re hitting Newsom before he leaves office!
I have to admit, I’ve never felt so discouraged and disrespected coming into the office as I do now. I honestly feel powerless.
What really gets me is looking around and wondering why everyone seems to be acting like this mandate is no big deal. Are we just accepting being taken advantage of? It feels like we keep taking hit after hit, and nothing meaningful is being done to stop it.
I’m frustrated that so many of my coworkers didn’t show up to the July 1 rally. I’m frustrated with Newsom for putting us in this position. And I’m frustrated with the union because I feel like stronger actions—like seriously preparing for a strike—should have been on the table much sooner.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just about where we work. It’s about respect. It’s about having our voices heard. And it’s about standing up before decisions like this become the new normal.
