We finally finished the spider web

Last September I contracted my blacksmith husband to help me make a spider web for my goth garden entrance.
We got the first one up by the end of September 2025- that is the left side, looking at the entrance. We just finished the other one- it only took a few hours, life just kept getting in the way. I’m very relieved it’s done.
I included a photo of where I started with this spot- this is how it looked when I moved in, so the posts were already there.
I’m thinking a gate with a spider on it would be really cool, ETA 2028 😆

Sharing my shameful garden

At work the other day we were talking gardens, and one coworker says to me about another’s “You HAVE to see her garden, it’ll put yours to SHAME.” Oh boy, I think, very eager to look at gardening pictures. That coworker and I had both moved last year, so we had both had to start over on our gardens. I saw that her new garden was pristine: tall white planting boxes on clean asphalt, each box straight and orderly with what was growing in there, the veggies clearly marked. I was very happy for her, and her hard work- but i was also reeling from the slap to the face. Had my coworkers been secretly disgusted by my own style of mixed flowers and edibles, cottage and chaotic, bordering on wild and free? When I went home i talked to my garden about it. I whined, I lamented (fine, I just won’t burden them with any more garden tales. why don’t they love you?); I debated, I defended (I just can’t take good pictures, that’s all); I stewed, I seethed (No flowers??? No flowers at all!!! ) But the more I tried to be disappointed in my garden, I found that I just loved it even more. Every day I look at my flowers and herbs and veggies and I’m overwhelmed with its beauty. I realized that comment that hurt me so badly was more a statement on the style- it hurt my ego badly, but I’m not gardening for anyone else, and it would be stupid to try. Of course that coworker would like that other garden over mine- she is neat, tidy, and traditional, and I love black and contrast and trying new things. I definitely love getting compliments- I’m still riding on the high from our mail carrier last October when she said she was impressed with all that I’d done over the year. But there really is no sense in arguing style: people like what they like. And I know my garden’s messy- I often don’t share pics because of a wayward box or chair, and I usually leave more dandelions than I should for the bees. Anyway, I figured I could share this with y’all- I love how different our styles are. And here’s some recent pictures of my shameful garden (zone 8b), which will always be evolving but never changing. Cheers!
