How do we feel about the self titled STP album without Scott from 2018l? Honestly for me, it had some okay songs but it just wasn't it..
And it's not even about the fact that Scott isnt there on the vocals, even the instrumental delivery and general vibe of the songs felt different from their core formula from the 90s in like 90% of the cases.
So do people just HATE this era of Chili Peppers cause for me personally I cant stop listening to this record! Its just so great and hypnotic, im a huge fan of it. My best description for it is like some kind of an orchestral mess! I ESPECIALLY love the DRUMS AND THE GUITAR on this record! I think its great and that Chad really found a jam buddy here, Anthony gets in well and Flea plays an independent funk bass but I honestly think it all fits nicely, covering every second so that there's no unintentional silence!
I have to say that as someone who wishes to get into guitar playing very soon, and am still looking for influences, Navarro's playing here REALLY inspired me. I love stuff like that. The closest of regular Peppers that Ive heard to this record is "Get on top" from Californication, but that's just the closest, not actually matching. So yeah, really this is like.. one of my favorite records ever! I absolutely LOVE the songs on this record and their progression but my favorites are: Warped, One Big Mob, Deep Kick, Aeroplane and Shallow be thy game. But other tracks are great too, really! Im an absolute fan of this record and era of Peppers.
