These two Versions of the XV88 have been lurking on my shelf for some time now, waiting for Nr.3 to be ready, which I hope to finish soon.

But for now they are prepared to be shown to the wild interweb, so be nice!

I'm happy with how the snow turned out.

Also, first time trying to get some OSL effect, which I think worked out ok.

What do you think?

Edit: How I painted the white:

  1. black foundation spray

  2. 1-2 layers of Dawnstone Grey

  3. as many layers as it takes to have a nice consistent surface of Ulthuan Grey.

In steps 2) and especially 3) it's important to have the "right" consistency of the paint, which I found is the hardest step. It definitely shouldn't be too thick to avoid smears. Too thin won't cover. I worked with a wet palette and always tried to keep the brush wet and clean off paint of it before it dries.

Last but not least, edge highlights with Vallejo white (or any other pure white).

This takes a lot of time. Surely there are different, maybe faster ways (basing with white or grey beforehand), but that's how it worked out for me.
