Scratched a car at a parking lot and exchanged details on the scene. They're now saying they need to replace the whole bumper for $1200.
I scratched a car while reversing from my parking bay, and that too on my first day of my green Ps 😭😭😭, so I was quite stressed. After contacting them, they said they're willing to settle it privately as I was on my green Ps, and said that the white scratch was barely a scratch and only residue. They said however that there was a "dent" in the front bumper and all their panel beaters were saying its easier to replace the bumper than to reverse the dent, and they're quoting $1200. Is that excessive? I don't know as this is my first time being in this situation. If it's excessive then I am on my father's insurance plan for the novated lease car, and he's said might as well put it through insurance if it's that high. Would this affect my insurance premiums in the future as I'm on my green Ps? Sorry for all these questions im just unfamiliar with the scenario. Many thanks 🙏
