Best way to commute north from the Loop?

I’ve been biking to work down Lincoln and then Wells in the morning and that works great. After work I typically head east along Randolph to get to the Lake Shore Traill, but I’ve been struggling to find a good route directly north and have found my self lost in the middle of traffic several times. Wells turns into a one way going south and I’ve been struggling to get back to Lincoln Ave.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to commuting back up North?
