This is my fifth bar of soap, first time with multiple colors and the first that came out super soft. Everything looked good when I ran it through the calculator. I used oxides and read to just add 1 tbsp of oil to 1 teaspoon of oxide and that it should affect the recipe. So I added about 3 tbsp of oil and I have a feeling that may be the issue. How do you all add oxides? Can I just take from my melted oils or will that affect the lye? Any information is appreciated! Thank you!

First Attempt at Swirls

This is my 5th soap loaf ever and first attempt at swirling. Thanks to everyone for fragrance recommendations. This one is Moonstone Mist from Brambleberry and behaved exactly as they said it would!

Where do you all get your Fragrance?

So I have some from New Directions which I like, but I ordered some from a place called Hive and Honey and the scent is getting lost in the curing process. I ordered from them bc they were supposed to be cleaner, but at this point, it smells like nothing at all. I have some from Candle Science too, but have not tried them yet.

I have plenty of E.O., so I am specifically looking for fragrance oil.

So give me all of your positive experiences please!

Since I am new to soap making, I am creating different recipes to see how fast or slow they take to set up. I have an idea from a knowledgeable stand point, but experiencing it is very different than understanding it to me. This was made with coconut oil, avocado oil, Rice bran oil, Kokum butter, and mango butter. I used a melon scented fragrance oil. This was at trace so quick! I’m assuming it’s the butters (and possible fragrance). I tend to learn through doing, and this learning is a whole lot of fun!
