RBTs- how much does ur company pay in travel time?

The title says it all. By travel time I mean from client to client homes. I feel like my company pays shockingly low and I am just curious what other peoples company pays

So since it’s my first school client and they have aggressive behaviors, to be very broad basically it needs to be there way or it’s done for.. so I am a tadddd nervous. I will say the kid and I pair great and my BCBA is awesome so she has been giving me good guidance and will be in person w me the first few days but ofc I want to hear other peoples thoughts /experiences to

Anyone ever tried selling on tpt or similar websites?

I make a lot of materials for my ABA sessions because I genuinely enjoy it. When I’m bored I start thinking of new file folders, matching activities, visuals, etc. My family always says my company should pay me for the time I spend making them, but they don’t require or even ask us to create materials. I do it completely because I love it (and it’s great for my ADHD 😂). So I feel weird asking my company to pay me for something I am 100% doing willingly out of my own enjoyment.
That said I’ve been thinking… getting paid for something I already enjoy would be nice. Has anyone sold stuff on Teachers Pay Teachers or similar websites? Is it worth it? Do you actually make decent money?

In school rbt

Can anyone that has worked in a school (more specifically preschool) tell me what it’s like? When the school year starts back up I am getting a new client but idk much info about the case just that it’s at the preschool. I’ve only rly done clinic and home so I’m not really sure how ABA goes when it’s in a group instruction environment rather than 1on1. I’ve worked in a preschool for years before starting my ABA journey so I know how a day in a preschool goes and I just wonder how sessions go?

Rbt wearing scrubs

I work in clinic, home and sometimes in community, my company doesn’t have a dress code at all we can basically wear whatever we want ofc as long as it’s appropriate. I usually wear black scrub pants and just a t shirt, but recently I’ve been finding myself just really wishing I had more pocket space(and cleanliness/bodily fluids)and finding a women shirt with pockets? Rare af. And scrub tops obviously have pockets, but for some reason I feel weird wearing them? I know a lot of companies require you wear them. But since no one else in my company wears full scrubs, a lot of them don’t wear scrub bottoms I’ve only seen other ppl wear them a few times I just kinda feel like “ performative” I guess lol but I know it would be beneficial.
Please just give y’all’s opinions on rbt wearing scrubs when it’s not required by the company?

Making materials for in home

I’m an rbt who does both in clinic and In home, I have realized recently I spend so much time making materials like file folders, Velcro match stuff etc even tho I genuinely love doing it i find it fun to make stuff for my sessions.
However, I am wondering if this is normal? I can take materials from the clinic but I don’t always like doing that because I don’t know what other clients use those during their sessions yk so I’d rather just have my own. But do other RBT find themselves making materials like that a lot for in home sessions? Just curious!

Rbt transporting clients ?

I have this client where my bcba and myself think our clinic environment(currently in home) would be more beneficial for many reasons, distractions, siblings intervening, etc so we brought it up to the parents but they said the clinic to too far for them but they do agree a different setting would be better.

So my question is are RBT allowed to transport clients? I would not mind at all especially since their house is on the way to the clinic, I do not believe the client has a history of behaviors while in the car. I want the absolute best for my clients and I know a more controlled environment would be so much more effective. But I have 0 clue if RBT transporting clients is even allowed with ethics and dual relationships.

RBT changing from hourly to salary???

I am so tired of cancellations it makes life so financially stressful and on top of a job like this it’s hard. I am debating asking my company if I can be switched to salary… but be honest with me what’s the likelihood of them saying yes? I really love my company and I don’t want to leave but with how much my pay fluctuates I might have no choice. It’s the same client that cancels all the time and I see them multiple days a week for 4 hours… so when I don’t get those sessions it’s a huge chunk of my paycheck.

Becoming bcba

I have been an RBT for almost a year now and I am really considering getting my masters to become a bcba. Does anyone have any good programs that aren’t over two years? I love working in this field but my #1 reason on wanting to become a bcba is because I need to be on salary and even though it’s a long process it seems worth it in my opinion. The constant cancellations and not getting paid is really difficult financially. If I could become an RBT on salary I 100% would. But it’s almost impossible to find.
So does anyone have program recommendations? Or any advice in general? I have my bachelors already In psychology and criminal justice and I am 23, is that too young to become a bcba? Should I wait till I’m more experienced?

Materials for in home sessions

What are some home materials/games that you guys bring to your sessions? I have a young client who likes to try to get into my bag and take everything out they think it’s funny, so because of that I don’t want to bring anymore bags that aren’t my backpack. But I want to start bringing more things for us to sessions.
So any good recommendations on things I could bring that are small and travel easily?

Is this the start of burn out?

I need some advice and idk if this is the start of burnout or what idk. But I have had this one client since I started working here in November. Recently I’ve noticed during our sessions I don’t have energy and I feel myself getting irritated kinda quickly. Of course I contain myself and don’t let the frustration or irritation show, but it is getting difficult. I do not experience this with my other clients. And this client isn’t difficult in a sense of aggression or compliance, idk what it is honestly and I feel bad bc I know what they are doing that is irritating me is not their fault/ they aren’t doing it on purpose.
Is this a common thing? Am I starting to experience some burn out? Idk I just need some advice cuz I don’t want this effective my job performance

Different reinforcement that’s not screen time?

So I have a 4 year old client who’s only reinforcement that’s effective is their iPad. Ik it’s difficult it find toys young kids enjoy when they have already been introduced to iPads but I am wondering if anyone who has clients around that age or even kids of their own around that age what they enjoy to play with? My client has a small attention span, toys like stress balls, slime, cars etc have not been effective and they lose interest pretty quickly, Even interactive game recommendations or ideas would be helpful as well. I just want some ideas to make sessions more fun and interactive to keep them engaged and not searching for the iPad every time.

So i graduated with my bachelor’s last May and have been working in the aba field since November and got my RBT in March. I’m getting really sick of not having a stable income when it comes to cancellations. Ik there’s companies out there that do pay for them but they are impossible to find. I want to save up to move out of my parents house but it’s rly hard when my monthly income changes. For example this week alone I had a client cancel for the entire week and that’s 12 hours taken off my next paycheck🥹 so my question is do you guys think I should wait a little bit until I’m in the field for longer to go for my BCBA? I do rly enjoy working in this field and my only downside is not being on salary/not a stable income. Are there any program recommendations any has? Rly any advice for coming a BCBA and if I should wait would be very much appreciated
