...suddenly, MANY cories
I started with a group of 10 G. hastatus in August and only lost one during the initial acclimation to the tank/post-transit stress period. Tragedy struck around Christmas and I lost fish very rapidly during a two week period, leaving me with only 5 survivors. Not much in the way of visible symptoms, so I treated for columnaris. I also slowly started softening my water by diluting my tap water with distilled, and began adding botanicals to the water.
I started to see small fry here and there, but very rarely would I see bigger fry, so I wasn't sure how many were making it to adulthood. Then, I got busy for about a month at work and while I kept up with tank maintenance, these guys are so shy you really have to sit with the tank for a while before the adults will come out. There are also plenty of hiding spots...so I had no idea that they were slowly forming a horde in there.
...I think they like the way the tank is now, what do you think? (They...they do stop breeding before every surface is covered in babies, yes?)
