Was this ever a "good" card?

I missed most of the G block, having started in TWM, but I never saw this guy used.

Why not?

Would this card be better in this block with the absence of Penny and Turo?

Is there another card that does this in the current format.

What kind of deck would this card work in and what would be the strat?

Min/Maxing Online vs IRL

I was thinking about taking a couple of decks to some locals and play in some matches, locals I guess they might be called.

Is there typically only tournaments or casual play?

In the local scene. (Town with about 120k people)

How common is it that most people have every card they need?

I know online PTCGL I can get every card perfect and min/max my deck.

IRL I often finding myself missing a few cards. Maybe a Pokepad has been hard to find, maybe that card was too expensive or I just missed it.

I understand that it really depends on the deck and how important the card is

How common is it that people's decks aren't perfect and maybe having to run 3 more energy or tools or something because they couldn't get the cards to make it perfect for one reason or another

What are the most common dumb mistakes you've made/continue to make?

As a new player I was really hard on myself when I would make dumb mistakes. Sometimes it cost me the game, half the time I didn't even try to stick it out and would just concede.

Then I realized, everyone makes dumb mistakes, especially new and average players.

I see my favorite YouTuber's make bone head moves every day. Looking at you FTW lol

Well in order to help people feel better about themselves and to help myself feel better can we all post the dumb mistakes we have made or still continue to make?

Then we can upvote the mistakes we have made and see what the most common, easily avoidable mistakes are and maybe save a new player from quitting

I'll go first:

I still try to hit Terra pokemon on the bench. I've known that for 6 months and I still do it. I hate seeing the hexagon shield, it mocks me

Retro Futuristic Blend of American Football, Baseball, Hockey, Lacrosse, MMA and Motor Sports. Unofficial name Futureball

There is no known official name for the sport because the lore isn't that deep, but I thought you guys would like it. Hopefully the mods allow it because it's cool and the song slaps

How do the top decks want to open games and beat dragapult?

The openings of games, specifically wether the deck wants to go first or second eludes me sometime.

I would have figured that a Raging Bolt deck would want to go second but I saw a post saying it goes first now, specifically against Pult to stop the candy play.

I'm wondering if any of you want to chime in on your opening game strategies for these decks.

How do these decks beat Dragapult?

I'm taking Mega Lopunny/Dunsparce to my first ever local later so any help there would be great as well.

Got some weird stuff from Japan

I was searching for a card that could do extra damage on an opponent affected by a status effect, and found Walking Wake, I think it's called?

Regardless I saw the card was used in a deck that placed in a city league so I had to give it a try.

Honestly I have no idea what to do with this deck.

What's the ideal opening, mid and late game strategy?

What's the ideal bench setup?

How the hell is this deck supposed to draw cards?!

Why is Volcanyon in there but no fire energy and only one switch?

Shouldn't there be an energy recycler since Pikachu discards 3 energy each attack?

What changes could be made to make this deck more playable?

This combo is diabolical

A free gust each turn if you can hit heads, and the Pokemon is confused. Pair that with Mismagius in the active, now if they retreat, the Pokémon they bring up is now confused. Combo that with dizzying valley means they can't evolve to escape the confusion either. Miss Maggy draws cards with her attack which is great but getting 2 psychic on her can be a pain.

Oh and it runs the Burning Laser Ace Spec which is just crazy to me but sometimes you need to confuse the active opponent.

Paired with Munkidori and Dusknoir you can hit bigger numbers and florges is a decent second attacker or use the Munki mind bend in a pinch, retreat into Missy and now wondorous patch is online. Or alternatively, as we saw in the LA Regional finals, just use a supporter to power up dusknoir to take a cheeky knock out.

It's fun but boy is it a lot of bricks and just confusing and praying the flip tails.

2 retreat and 2 attack costs are not great either.

Credit to Savid400 for the decklist in the comments, I came across it though from the YT channel Haychee.

Make sure you have 20 minutes to play! These games are slow!

Any suggestions to make it better?

I could have used another Munkidori a couple of games and I'm not sure how much value Dusknoir provides. I guess lillie Clefairy Maggy attack and a dusclops can OHKO dragapult, but in that case why even run the Noir? More damage is better but I don't know

Festival Deck without the Festival

Has anyone got any deck ideas that can take advantage of Thwacky and not be a Dipplin?

LittleDarkFury had something (I missed it) and I've seen something else where they use Seaking in the active and retreat with Surfing Beach to loop Thwacky in a water deck.

Any ideas? Should be fun

Stephen's Metagross I Am Rubber and You Are Glue Deck

I've made a silly deck revolving around a caped Metagross tanking a hit then switching to Cofagrigas to send the damage right back to them, hence the title (it's a work in progress)

Id like some help to make it better. Maybe I'm spread out to much and I should just focus more on the concept and less on drawing cards and being competitive.

Metagross has a 3 retreat cost hence the 3 switches and the petrel is there to find the switch or candy.

Considering dropping the one of most energy and the Brock's Scouting to up the petrel count

A two prize pokemon with 330 HP that can OHKO anything in the format even if they have hero's cape, what's not to love?

For those that don't know Hydrapple is making waves in Japan. With so many people teching Shaymin for Arboliva, Mega Starmie and Wellspring Ogerpon among others, it seems that Hydrapple/Teal Mask/Meganium is getting it's time in the spotlight.

Is it a fad?

Is Hydrapple A-tier?

What's the best Ace Spec and why?

Optimal energy count? I've had luck with 12 but I dropped the second Meowth for another energy.

Dragapult is S-tier and I think they are there all by themselves, but does Hydrapple have the potential to be at least A-tier?

I think so, but I've been playing it for 5 months so I'm a little biased. It just has so much to offer and with more people playing it, I think it has the potential to find the cards it needs to be a truly top tier deck.

It has its flaws of course. The biggest weakness I see is it's reliance on a low hp two prizer in Teal Mask and that taking out Meganium cuts it's power in half.

Tapu Balu is a nice addition. I don't like Celebi or Buddew, it changes the prize mapping from having to take out 3 EX Pokemon to just having to take out 2 (once they KO Meganium or Tapu). I realize that taking out Meganium and Tapu also does that but both of those have high hp and won't likely be one shot by Fan Rotom or Solrock or taken out by a couple of Munkidori in one turn. If they wanna boss them up then fine that's less time they are hitting Hydrapple.

I feel like just running 2 Meganium 2 teal mask a Tapu and a Hydrapple is the ideal setup but maybe I'm wrong.

Some tech cards I've seen is Briar, Petrel, and Ciphermaniac. Cipher? Hmm 🤔 I'm guessing to grab an energy and teal dance twice to get the card they want like unfair stamp or Forest.

With how important the stadium is, why isn't anyone using Colress?

What about Wally's?
