APS A Plus Loan Account

Can anyone with an A Plus loan account help explain if its possible to have a loan on this kind and the same amount or more saved in the account please?

In the case that you have more money deposited in the account than the amount you owe, do you pay zero loan interest or earn interest on the excess amount or is there a limit on how much the loan interest may be reduced through savings?

Thank you

Question for Maltese parents

My husband and I have a four-month-old who is due to start childcare in October, when she’ll be around six months old.

Before she was born, I thought six months was a reasonable time to start childcare (considering many babies start around four months). But now that she’s here, we are questioning whether this is actually what we want for our family. Being away from our daughter 9 hours a day and having less than two hours quality time with her in the evening before her bedtime during the week.

We own two properties, one in Malta and one in Gozo. We’re considering selling the Malta property and moving back to Gozo. This would allow us to fully repay the remaining loan on the Gozo property and allow one of us to become a stay-at-home parent, meaning we could keep our daughter at home with us until she starts school.

The other side of the decision is that we’d be giving up a significant property investment and potentially making it harder financially to have another child.

So, purely as a parent: if you were in our position and had the opportunity to spend your child’s first few years at home with them, would you take it?

Or, given the Maltese property market and the financial security an additional property could provide for your child’s future, would you choose to keep the investment and continue working?

I’m not looking to debate the pros and cons of childcare centres — I’m specifically interested in what other parents would personally choose if they had this financial option.

Please only answer if you’re a parent. I’d really appreciate hearing what you would do and why.
