Reality Check - How Would You Order These Activities/Sites?

Looking for advice on how (or if) we'd best sequence our Paris itinerary. We're a family of 4 (adults mid-40s, kids ages 9 and 7) and will be visiting for the first time June 1-3 next year. That's a Tues-Thurs. Leaving Fri morning.

Our only set activity time-wise so far is a private tour of Montmartre with a local at 3pm on Wednesday the 2nd.

For the rest of the time, how would you best arrange these things we want to do/see?

We land at 11am on Tues the 1st and are staying at the Salvia Hotel in the Latin Quarter.

We likely wouldn't be at any of the indoor sites (O'rsay, Pantheon, etc) any more than 90 mins...2 hrs very max due to the kids temperaments.

Montmartre tour (set for 3pm on Wednesday the 2nd)

Lux Gardens (5m walk from hotel)

Pantheon (5m walk from our hotel)

Grande Galerie de l'Évolution + quick general look at Jardin des Plantes

Vedettes du Pont Neuf cruise

Arc de Triomphe top

Sainte-Chappelle

Musee d'Orsay

Stroll down Champs-Élysées to Tuileries plus Louvre courtyard look

Thank you!

Itinerary Review - Family of 4 w/ kids - first Paris visit

Hoping for some opinions on our planned itinerary for early June of 2027. We are a family of 4 (parents mid 40s, kids ages 9 and 7) and it'll be the first time in Paris for us all. We did Switzerland for 11 days last month so Europe travel is not new for us.

Goal is to see some of the famous sites while not overdoing it and exhausting the kids. They are good travelers overall though and can put in full days, just not constantly. Trying to minimize long transport and queue-waiting as much as reasonably possible. Kids like unstructured play/run time in late afternoons on some days.

Staying at Hotel Salvia in the 5th about 300m from Jardin du Luxembourg. Flying in from Atlanta direct. We'll be continuing to Strasbourg/Colmar and Heidelberg from Paris.

Questions in general:

- can anyone recommend any good dining experiences (inc for breakfast) that are kid-friendly and not overly fancy? Been tough finding solid info online about kids menus at restaurants. Near our hotel a plus.

- anything on the itinerary you'd change, add, remove, re-order considering our family dynamics? Any timings unrealistic? Any big misses?

- best way for public transport to the sites not in walking distance from the 5th?

Tues, June 1st 2027:

- 1pm - arrive at Salvia, hopefully check in and freshen up

- 2:30pm - Jardin du Luxembourg

- wander Rue Mouffetard, check out markets/shops, early dinner

Wed, June 2nd - our busiest, most transport-heavy day:

- 10am - Arc de Triomphe top

- 11:15am - Trocadero stop, 20mins

- 12pm - Champs-Élysées wander and lunch

- 1:45pm - Musee d'Orsay, highlights, 90 mins max

- 4pm-ish - Seine Cruise (Vedettes du Pont Neuf 1 hr cruise)

- 5pm - wander  Île de la Cité, maybe Pont des Arts if energy allows, follow kids' lead here, dinner

Thurs, June 3rd

- 9:30am - Montmarte exploration - possibly take Le Petit train up to save energy, Sacre-Couer, general wandering, possibly get a caricature done. We MIGHT do a private tour via Zoë Petit (zoepetit.com) here to get more of a learning and immersion experience here, she seems fantastic with kids.

- 3pm - Saint-Chappelle inc interior

- 4pm - some combo or Jardin des Plantes (the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution mainly) and/or return visit to Luxembourg if the kids loved it on day 1

- 6pm - early dinner and then return to pack for 9am or 10am-ish Strasbourg train next morning

First Visit to France/Alsace, full fam with kids - questions on wine, bases, etc

Hello All,

We are planning to visit France for the first time next June. Myself, wife, and kids ages 9 and 7. We just did Switzerland for 11 days and it went great overall. Considering this:

- fly into Paris, 3 nights

- Strasbourg, 2 nights

- Colmar, 3 nights (rent a car in Strasbourg)

- Heidelberg, Germany, 3 nights (drop off car upon arriving that 1st day there)

- fly home from Frankfurt

We enjoy a moderate pace with a mix of planned and improv activities. Kids are great travelers but like a little late afternoon downtime about half the days and some "unstructured play" time in parks, playgrounds, etc as we go. We all love nature, short scenic hikes, wildlife, history, great food experiences, wine/beer for wife and I, etc. Alsace appeals to me a bit more overall in terms of vibe than Paris does overall. We aren't really museum people.

Questions:

Do you think this is a solid itinerary and flow of the trip? Any changes you'd make?

We'd do a hotel in the Latin Quarter in Paris most likely, something in the middle of Strasbourg's main town, an Airbnb in heart of Colmar, and then probably the Marriott in Heidelberg using points. This would be in early to mid June of next year.

Any good winery experiences you could recommend in the Alsace region that would also be suitable for the kids to be along?

Have found Rolly Gassman from online research but that's about it with any sort of concrete info on being kid-friendly and having a small play area for them while we taste.

Would the kids find Eguisheim, Kayersberg, Riquewihr entertaining enough for a 2 hr stop each? They need to be semi-engaged usually and not just a purely stroll around and look at buildings type of stuff.

Thank you!
