Ranking the 10 Most Epic Battles in Dragon Ball Z

Ranking the 10 Most Epic Battles in Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z did more than define anime for a generation; it set the rulebook for epic martial arts battle sequences. The fights in this shonen anime television series stand out for their iconic transformations (Super Saiyans aren’t the only ones with multiple forms), escalating villain power levels, and slick animation featuring iconic designs. Who can forget the spiky hairstyles of our favorite Saiyans?

Dragon Ball Z had a years-long run separated into “sagas” from the Saiyan Saga to the Buu Saga. This was a formative anime for me, so I thought it would be fun to revisit some of the most epic battles and rate them by how memorable I found them. Let’s see if you agree with my number one pick! Hint: it’s from one of the TV show’s earlier sagas.

The 10 Worst Musical Movies of All Time, According to Audiences

In a way, musicals are meant to be a little bit silly. The premise of people spontaneously breaking into song during big emotional moments requires a certain suspension of disbelief, and when done right, audiences are usually on board. The genre thrives on big emotions, flashy performances, and a willingness to be a little ridiculous.

On stage, this is a more organic process, but in film, it can be somewhat tricky to get right. That’s why, even when a stage production of a musical excels, the movie adaptation sometimes tanks. In fact, even original musical films sometimes can’t get it right, resulting in some pretty abysmal critical responses. There is almost nothing more painful than watching two hours of spontaneous songs that feel forced and awkward dance numbers, and the ratings online prove it.

Today, we’re looking at the 10 worst musical movies of all time, according to our analysis of IMDb audiences.

Behind the Greats: George Lucas’s Inspirations for Star Wars

The Star Wars universe is one of the most legendary media franchises in all of human history. It revolutionized the concept of a blockbuster and established the blueprint for vast cinematic universes that could evolve with time and society. It spearheaded innovative audio and film techniques that brought its story to life and, in turn, cracked open what was possible for future creative enterprises.

While Star Wars is now a multi-faceted source of inspiration for science fiction, filmmaking, and storytelling as a whole, it did not materialize in a vacuum. So, where did the original idea for Star Wars come from? Much like the universe it portrays, its origins are a motley mix of old and new influences. George Lucas crafted his vision from a kaleidoscope of cultural elements and personal passions. Interestingly, the initial impetus was actually a sort of rejection, which shows that sometimes fantastic events can unfold from refusing to quit in the face of failure. Master Yoda said it best: “The greatest teacher, failure is.”

Without further ado, let’s do a podrace through how George Lucas came up with the idea for Star Wars!

The 10 Worst Movies From the 1970s

The year 1968 marked the end of the Hays Code, a restrictive, self-imposed set of guidelines that dictated what could and could not be portrayed in Hollywood films for decades. Just like that, the rigid moral guidelines, sanitized romances, and family-friendly content requirements were gone, and for the first time since the Great Depression, filmmakers were given what felt like free rein to make whatever types of movies they wanted.

The decade that followed gave us some of the most impactful films of all time, such as The Godfather, Rocky, Taxi Driver, A Clockwork Orange, The Exorcist, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and even Star Wars. However, for every cinematic masterpiece that came out of the era, there were a number of self-indulgent, ridiculous, and just plain weird flops.

Audiences throughout the 1970s sat through some truly baffling theatrical releases, and thanks to modern aggregators, they have spent years logging their opinions. According to our analysis of IMDb user data, here are the 10 worst movies of the 1970s.

7 Ways to Refresh Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gameplay

Animal Crossing is a beloved franchise that’s been around for years, but the release of the latest game, New Horizons, in 2020 was a sensation. Released at the height of the pandemic lockdowns, the game was embraced by more than just loyal franchise fans. Its cozy second-world simulation and emphasis on socializing with friends, digital neighbors, and other gamers provided a sense of connection many craved during a time of isolation. As players designed their own unique island experience and the game continued to receive updates with new features, collectibles, and ways to share their islands with others, the fan base expanded, and the experience deepened.

Now, six years have passed since the game’s release. Maybe you’ve been steadfastly keeping up with your neighbors this entire time, or maybe you’ve let your island get overrun with bugs and weeds. I find that New Horizons hits me with nostalgia when I open it up, and its vast possibilities offer new, refreshing gaming sessions. If you’re ready to return to your island paradise but need new goals and inspiration to keep it interesting, I’ve listed a few ways to keep your gaming experience fresh.

POLL: What Is the Best Streaming Platform in 2026?

Circa 2017, streaming felt like the best thing to happen to television since DVR. While there were certainly some drawbacks, particularly for those with dodgy internet connectivity, it felt like most of what was worth watching could be found on at most two services. These apps offered us what felt like a limitless amount of on-demand content, and best of all, they were affordable and had basically no ads.

Sometime around the start of the pandemic, things started to shift and we found ourselves in the era of the Streaming Wars. Suddenly, ads started infiltrating even paid subscription tiers; more and more brands launched their own streaming services (and, in the process, yanked their content from the OGs); and prices gradually crept up. Now, everyone’s subscribed to five or six different services and we still feel like there’s nothing to watch.

That being said, streaming still accounts for 48% of our TV time, meaning, despite how chaotic the streaming landscape feels, we still like it better than cable.

And not all streaming services are built the same, from price to content. So, today, we want to know which streaming service you think is the best bang for your buck.

The Best JRPGs of All Time

In my mind, a JRPG is not so much a genre as it is a vibe. So, I went searching for a true definition. First, “JRPG” stands for Japanese Role-Playing Game. According to Geek to Geek Media, I’m not the only one struggling to find a solid definition. They describe it as “a story-driven game with pre-defined characters made in Japan.”

When I think of a JRPG, I think of anime-inspired aesthetics, an elaborate storyline, and often turn-based combat. To create my list of favorite JRPGs, I combined both definitions with my personal impressions. I included a few ultra-popular entries that often appear on “best of” lists, but my focus was on games I have personally played. If your favorite game isn’t listed here, no offense; I just haven’t had the chance to play it yet! (Yes, I’m looking at you, Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade Chronicles.)

10 of the Greatest Video Game Sidekicks

With each video game we play, we spend dozens or sometimes hundreds of hours assuming the role of a fictional character in a fictional world. We become connected to these characters as we embody them, but we also become connected to their environments and the other characters who help us as we grind our way to an exciting conclusion. In many games, there is a prominent sidekick without whom our character would have met an untimely end. Here are just some of our favorite sidekicks in video games.

The Real-World Inspiration of 6 Fictional Languages

It is truly admirable when writers are so dedicated to the depth of their worlds that they create entire languages to weave into their lore. Languages like Klingon, Dothraki, and Na’vi — known as conlangs or constructed languages — imbue their worlds with a wondrous realism and complexity.

For some creative legends, the languages even preceded the stories. J.R.R. Tolkien began developing dialects as a youth, long before building the legendary realm of Middle-earth to give them a place to live and evolve. Of course, these creators live(d) on planet Earth, with all our history and culture, so, naturally, they drew inspiration from genuine sources to craft their linguistic masterpieces.

To celebrate the awe-inspiring ingenuity of language creators, let’s explore how these fictional languages were developed, the real-world inspiration behind them, and the legacies they forged along the way.

The Worst Animated TV Series of All Time, According to Audiences

Animation is a particularly expensive and labor-intensive medium, so it tends to be made with a lot of love and care. For that reason, animated TV shows can be a reliable bet much of the time. When you look at IMDb’s lists of worst-rated movies and TV shows, it’s not unusual to find some sub-3.0-star ratings, but that’s a little rarer in animated TV. Even flawed shows or those made for very young children tend to build a dedicated audience over time, largely avoiding the disastrous reputations that lead to poor ratings.

That being said, not every animated show becomes a classic or even a hidden gem. Today, we’re looking at the worst animated TV series of all time, as rated by IMDb audiences.

A Guide to Pokémon-Themed Locations in Japan

The Pokémon franchise encompasses a world of games, films, TV series, comics, toys, card games, and much more. It’s been a childhood staple since the 1990s, when Japanese game designer Satoshi Tajiri released the Pocket Monsters Red and Green versions for the Nintendo Game Boy. After that release, the franchise expanded into manga, a TV series, and a trading card game, ultimately sweeping the globe and creating a generation of devoted fans.

Japan has fully embraced this pop culture phenomenon, integrating Pokémon into daily life in charming and unexpected ways.  Here, I’ve gathered some of the most famous and surprising Pokémon-themed spots in Japan.

10 Movie Studios With the Most Razzie Nominations for Worst Picture

Even the most brilliantly talented directors, visionary artists, producers, and A-list actors occasionally make questionable career choices. We’ve all seen our favorite stars inexplicably attach their good names to terrible films. However, bad movies are rarely the result of a single person’s poor decision, since it’s the studios that greenlight these projects in the first place.

While the Academy Awards celebrate the height of filmmaking achievement, the Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies) exist to ruthlessly poke fun at the absolute worst. From mind-numbing slapstick comedies to terrible sci-fi epics that practically bankrupted their creators, the Razzies have been trying to keep big Hollywood studios humble since their inception in 1980. Just like the Oscars, some studios have especially long histories with the Razzies, either because they release so many movies or because they repeatedly take giant swings that don’t pay off.

So today, we wanted to see which movie studio was the biggest offender. Here are the 10 movie studios with the most Worst Picture nominations in history.
