23F solo traveler coming to Lille for 8 weeks…looking for recommendations

Hi! I’m 23F from the U.S. and I’ll be leaving my small town for the first time to spend about 8 weeks in Lille.

I’ll be attending a French language school because I’ve been learning French for a few months and really want to improve while actually experiencing French life and culture.

I already have a list of places I want to visit, but since I’ll be traveling alone, I’d love recommendations for places or activities where it’s easy to meet people and make friends especially other people around my age, locals, students, or other foreigners.

I’d also love to hear your non-negotiable things to see/do/eat in Lille! I’m interested in pretty much everything: food, cafés, museums, shopping, nightlife, cute places to walk, cultural activities, etc.
If you have any favorite social spots, recurring events, language exchanges, clubs, or just general Lille advice, I’d really appreciate it! 😊
Merci beaucoup!
