Hoping someone here can help me identify roughly when this hat was made
I picked up this 20x Resistol off of fb marketplace. The guy I bought it off of said he had it for a couple of years and he bought it off an older lady and it was the older lady’s husband hat. According to him it’s probably 5ish years old. Here’s the thing it feels much nicer than any of the modern 20x Resistols I’ve handled which made me think it may be older than the guy thinks it is especially since he didn’t buy it new and the older hats are nicer feeling hats. I did run it through a few ai searches and it said based on the liner color, the clear plastic cover and the coat of arms that it was produced between 1981-1985. When running the ai searches I used multiple different ones and used both photos and no photos just asking questions and every ai said 1981-1985. I don’t really trust the ai because they are unreliable and based on condition I find it hard to believe this hat is 40 years old but I guess it’s possible it was basically never worn. Can anyone tell me how to identify the age? I’m not expecting it to be vintage but it’d also be cool if it was but either way I’d like to know the age.
