I feel like I’ve been see more people standing up to toxic fans lately

or at the very least not taking them as seriously. like I’ve seen people say that the mandolorian movie is decent and doesn’t need to be anything grand like the original trilogy or even Andor

The haters will never truly win…

as much as it seems like online toxicity is rampant in haters and anti fans and the Internet seems to award them, they will never truly win because at the end of the day, they are all miserable while fans are happy for the most part. also the haters and anti fans are choosing to be this way and are not interested in moving on and being better. they’d rather swim in their negative energy and try and bring others downs with them, but I say let them and if they have a problem with being called out, that’s their problem only. in the end our love for whatever piece of media is greater and more powerful than their hatred.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I despise the online Star Wars fandom…

and also find them to be the reason I fell out of the franchise. I’m hoping to get back into it because I do miss it but I have zero faith the online fandom will get any better and should be used as a prime example of how toxic a fandom can become.

Imperfection is non existent on the Internet…

you either have flaws or you don’t and if its the ladder, the Internet will just find some for you. Basically both perfection and imperfection doesn’t exist on the internet and the hate towards Viv is a product of that

now before I say anything I want to be make this perfectly clear as a white man. I respect the choices of all my fellow POCs, wether you forgive Brandon and TADC cast or not. my issues with these controversies have more to do with the people that started it and the internet as a whole.

my first issue is that the people who shared these videos clearly did not do it in good faith. now granted, blackface no matter what is wrong and it does suck that Brandon did that 20 years back, buts he’s always struck me as someone who has always been aware of is work, how it’s not for everyone and knows if it goes too far.

now imagine 20 years ago you make a very cringy video like Brandon did and you start regretting it and wishing you never made it but it’s too late for that. you either have the option to let it sit there for everyone to see and cringe in disgust and have it define you for the rest of your life or you can delete and move on from it and maybe even use it as a motivation to improve your work and be better. you chose the latter and eventually you reach a point where you feel pretty happy with where you are only for someone online who doesn’t know you personally decided to expose that cringey video of yours for everyone to see. it’ll seem like all that work and years out into improving yourself and your work went right down the drain and worse part is the people who exposed the video did it not because they actually cared about what you did and that you regret it now and moved on from it , but instead exposed it because of your friendship with someone made a series they didn’t like. I highly doubt that video was just sitting around in broad daylight, those people were actually looking for anything to use against Brandon and if that video never existed, it would’ve been another video they’d use.

The last issue I have has to do with the internet and that the controversies feel more like ‘trends‘ instead of actual conversations addressing a serious problem. basically what I’m saying is I predict in at least A month from now the internet will all of sudden move on from all this and jump to the next controversy that happens and weather the current controversy will be resolved or not won’t matter

the fact that haters are going out of their way to shift the blame to her no matter what is very reminiscent of what anti Star Wars fans did to Kathleen Kennedy. they even go as far as to never give her credit when she does something good, in their eyes she’s always an evil awful person who can do only wrong things. maybe she and KK should get together and make a movie or something

is this what I’m going to have to look forward to? especially since my is combing multiple fandoms and I was inspired by Helluva boss to adapt it and I plan to have Michael Kovach in the cast at some point

like I’ve stepped away for a while now and I’m not really surprised since I’ve been watching this unfold for about a decade now, but I guess there was a part of me that though it would get a little better
