B1/B2 second attempt after 214(b) refusal — what are my chances ? (appointment in Delhi)

Hi all, looking for honest input about my profile
Background: Indian citizen, MBBS graduate (2024). Applied solo for B1/B2 (tourist) in Oct 2025 to visit a cousin in the US — got refused under 214(b), no reason given beyond the standard slip.
Since then:
-Worked 1 year as a medical tutor, resigned in July after completing the term
-Took a solo trip to Melbourne, aus (2 weeks) in jan 2025, returned on schedule
-Will be done with NEET PG (India's PG medical entrance exam) — exam done by the time of my interview, awaiting results/counseling
-working at a clinic since a month
-Have my own FD (~19L INR) plus some family-contributed funds

This time applying with both parents, not solo, same purpose (US tourism, ~2 weeks to visit a cousin and for sight seeing).

Question: has anyone here dealt with a second B1/B2 attempt after a 214(b), especially as a young unmarried medical professional?
Any real experiences good or bad appreciated. Not looking for generic "be confident" advice. TIA :)

B1/B2 Re-application

Hey everyone,

I have an upcoming US B1/B2 visa interview with my parents for a family vacation and I'm looking for some feedback on my approach. I had a previous 214(b) refusal back in October, and I want to make sure I handle my chances of approval perfectly this time.

My Profile:

  • Job: Medical Tutor at a university in India.
  • What changed since October: I have now completed a year of my teaching career here.
  • Recent Travel: I took a solo vacation to Australia and returned exactly on time for my duties.
  • Trip Purpose: 2 week summer family vacation to Omaha to visit my cousin and do some sightseeing (specifically checking out the Henry Doorly Zoo since I loved the Melbourne Zoo on my recent trip).

The Strategy/Answers I've Planned:

  1. "What has changed?":"I completed a year of my teaching career here and I also took a solo trip to Australia."
  2. "What is the purpose of your trip?":"We're taking a 2 week family vacation to visit my cousin.
  3. On Funding (DS-160 says self funded, but my liquid monthly salary checking account runs low, while I have ₹19L in personal FDs and our combined family FDs are over 50 Lakhs):"I am self-funding my personal expenses using my own fixed deposits, while our overall family trip is backed by our combined fixed deposits of over 50 lakhs."

My Questions for the Sub:

  • Is leaning entirely on Fixed Deposits (FDs) a solid way to address the "self-funded" status on the DS-160 if my regular checking account balance fluctuates heavily at the end of the month?
  • Any red flags or tweaks you'd recommend to maximize the chances of overcoming the previous 214(b)?
