How to handle repairing an old hull repair.

Just bought my first Sunfish, a 1985 AMF build. Boat as a whole is in pretty great condition, the only minor flaws being these small cracked repairs on the bottom of the hull.

Having no prior boat repair experience, I was wondering if these would be the general correct steps for repair (or if there was a simpler method)

Wipe down area with acetone, dremel out cracks, fill with some kind of Marine epoxy, sand down excess once cured, cover with a gel coat.

Wasn't sure if that was overkill, or what would actually be the correct steps here.

2 weeks progress picture in a 5.5 Gallon Walstad method tank (also my first aquarium). I'm using remineralized RO water (with Fritz RO Recharge), and my light is a single 11W full spectrum grow lightbulb. The plants I chose to use are Water Sprite, Bacopa Moneywort, Water Wisteria, Rotala sp. Green, Anubia Nana Petite, Buce Brownie, Cryptocoryne Lucen, Staurogyne Repens, Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green, Dwarf Sag, Giant Duckweed, and a Tiger Lotus bulb. Tank is looking close to being cycled, so I'll be stocking this with some Horned Nerite snails and Bloody Mary shrimp. Been putting off setting up this tank for a few years, so it feels good to finally get around to it.
