Mobile auto detail/ceramic coat scammer- @topnotchdetailing._ on IG
FYI for anyone in OC/LA area who might be looking for a car detail, be aware of topnotchdetailing._ on instagram. I came across their IG through an ad and after looking at all their posts, I decided to give them a try.
When hector(the scammer) came to my house, he was literally dressed like a bum(baggy sweatpants, dirty hoodie) but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I ruled it out as maybe he’s been working hard and was just rushing to the job.
Once he started washing my truck, took him an hour to pre wash my truck then asks me for water, which I provided him then he went back to washing the truck. About 2 hours later, I go out to check up on him, see if he needed anything but couldn’t find him anywhere near my truck. Turns out the guy was in his work van taking a nap. Again, ruled it out as he’s been working hard, probably exhausted from previous jobs. About 30 minutes later, he starts working again for about 20 minutes then texts me that he’s done. I came out and inspected my truck, noticed a lot of rough spots all around the truck and also saw compound residue(he didn’t wipe them off after polishing). I’m not a detail expert or anything so I didn’t realize he couldn’t have applied the 5 year ceramic coat I paid for if he never even wiped off the polishing residue.
That same night I went back out to my truck and looked around again with my flashlight and saw scratches all over my truck, went and texted him about it in which he offered to come back the next weekend to fix but never came back, ghosted me and blocked me off ig after I confronted him about scamming me.
TLDR: If you’re in the OC/LA area looking for a paint correction, ceramic coat, or even a car wash, stay away from this guy unless you want him to mess up your paint and take your money for doing so.
