Feel like I’m not energetic enough to start my journey in this field

TLDR: out of field student with nearly non related experience feeling nervous

Hi folks! I’m a out of field student (computer science major) and now planing to take phonetics and audiology the upcoming fall at ENMU. My plan is just take 2 courses each semester and applying for 2028 Fall. The reason why SLP is because it’s relatively stable and you’ll get a job if you can pass the exam and I do feel like it’s a rewarding job. Plus I’m a bilingual so I feel like I can help more people.

I’m going start my first day as a behavior tech next Monday! So excited but also nervous because that would be the only experience that is healthcare related. I don’t have any work experience before because I just graduated, I’ve always hated computer science so I feel like I wasted my whole undergrad life. When I browsing this sub, I feel like everyone has tons of volunteers, labs, shadowing, fancy experiences related to SLP and also so involved in many clubs. I feel like I have no leadership skills and not involved at all.

It just makes me doubt myself…Am I really for this field? I feel like SLP is so medical related(what I want to say is that it’s so intense that you wanna learn new things everyday you need to keep your brain active and looking for things to boost your overall strength every seconds) I want to look for some volunteer work too so that at least I can put something more than a BT job on my resume.

I really wanna know if there are SLPs who just go to school and finish the coursework with average efforts but still make it to be a good SLP.

I tested 3 popular 2.6mm perler beads brand, ranked in the end

I’ve been using 5 mm fuse beads for years, and now I’m getting into 2.6 mm mini beads. They have way more color options. If you’re new to them, tweezers work great. I’m already used to working with picker needles.

I’ve tried Arktal, Luluniverse and Pixelcraft, so here’s my quick comparison. Full disclosure: I’m not a professional reviewer. This is just my personal experience.

When matching colors against common pattern color codes, here’s how true‑to‑original they rank from best to worst: Luluniverse, Pixelcraft, then Arktal Beads. Lots of Arktal shades come out much lighter with obvious color shifts — take colors like A2, E12 for example. Almost every shade from Luluniverse matches the online patterns perfectly. Pixelcraft has fairly little color deviation too.

I love doing glitter iron and diamond iron finishes. But I’ve noticed, apply even a little pressure while ironing, and Pixelcraft and Arktal beads melt too much, leaving blurry pixels. Luluniverse seems more heat‑resistant. That said, if you don’t press any at all, you have to iron longer just to get them to fuse together.

I don’t really recommend Pixelcraft. It costs twice as much as Arktal and Luluniverse, yet there aren’t many clear advantages. All three have big fan bases online. But factoring price, color accuracy and ironing success rate, my personal ranking goes: Luluniverse > Arktal > Pixelcraft. What do you guys think?
